Best bang for the buck truck out there. Cam Leak will show its face in 60k if needed...and it will be covered.

Granted, I've only had my truck for a little over 2 months, already spent more on it than I was expecting. Oh wait, you're not talking about mods. Yeah, I'd go ahead and get it. Like you said, IF you do encounter cam tower leaks, it'll be covered under warranty.

Top honors once again from JD Power for the brand, and top honors for the Camry and Tundra models. Not that awards mean tons, but Toyota always has the highest resell value and dependability ratings.

I'm on my second Tundra, the first one was a 2002, I was the original owner, and I kinda got bored with it. It just went and went and went till finally good gosh something broke! It was 15 and dang if it didn't spring a leak from the brake master cylinder and the steering gearbox. Shucks. Excitement over, fixed and back to just going and going. Well, I wanted a new one for the longest time and finally broke down and bought it in December. I broke down, not the truck. It never left me on the side of the road, not even a flat in 17 years. I was sad to sell that 2002 which was a perfectly good truck. My brother has a 2006 and it too broke a few months ago, 200, 000 miles on it and it sprung a leak from the bell housing. He fixed it and he is on vacation driving around Nevada and Colorado now. These are durable trucks. They are not perfect, however. The cam tower leak is a leak, not a major 'stuck on the side of the road' kind of failure. I am watching and will get it fixed if it happens to me.

Many would say the Tundra is 'tired' or 'dated'. In some ways it is, it is due for a refresh. The styling is dated compared to the refreshes we see out of Ford and Dodge, and the tech is a few years old, but the issues that those other trucks are having are way worse than the slow leak that some Tundras are showing. Buy a Tundra, set it up the way you want, and drive it till the wheels fall off. Which may be a very long time, be prepared for some boredom.

I have a 2018 with just over 10k on miles, so I don't have much to say about the leak. I will say I was a GM owner since '99 and do not regret my Tundra purchase. Although gas mileage is definitely lower, my dealership offered a lifetime powertrain warranty as long as I own it and service through them. I would think the quality speaks for itself with that deal!

Welcome from East TN! I traded in a 2013 GMC Sierra with 66,000 miles for a 2010 Tundra with 108,000 and have NO regrets. The Tundra is a better made, put-together truck hands down. You won't regret it!

It’s a item designed and manufactured by humans who are flawed by nature.

In other words it’s a man made item and nothing man made is perfect.

Every auto manufacture has dealerships with service departments and warranties.

    Some are better than others.

    Enjoy your new tundra.

I actually bought my 2016 a few months back knowing it had the leak. Talk about a difficult decision. I made the dealer put it in writing that it would be covered. My truck is certified so that helped. Haven't taken it in yet to start the repair process.

Don't be worried about buying a tundra.I own a 2000 limited TRD access cab 4x4 with 376,000 miles and runs as good as it did when I bought it! Bought it new in April 2000 with 43 miles.I just bought a 2013 SR5 CREWMAX TRD 16 months ago and now have 81,750 miles on it and no cam towers leaks. I don't baby my trucks either I DRIVE THEM!!! you are in good hands with a tundra!

I love my 2018. I think the cam tower leak is a highly overblown issue.

I have 4200 miles on my tundra now.
If I woke up tomorrow and saw oil under truck I wouldn't open the hood to look.
I've read a lot about the cam tower leaking.
No way it can leak as much as my old 7.3l f250 .
I changed the oil every 5k for 300k miles.
For the last 4 years it leaked at least a gallon between oil changes .
My side of carport is ruined will oil .
My son's 08 tundra is tight as a drum. He loves it . He better . I sure never had a truck that nice . Until I bought my tundra.
    I grew up driving a 1978 Chevy stepside . 1993 Chevy .02 ford .
I've spent hours under each working on them .
Come what may ive got confidence in toyota reputation .

I've got a 2019 with 455 trouble free miles on it. Bought 4 days ago... ;) I like it more each day I drive it.

Of the 16 vehicles that I have owned, my Tundra ranks 3rd least reliable out of all of them.

Every vehicle purchase comes with a risk. Buy what you like and deal with the stuff that comes up if it comes up.

Just bought a 2019 Platinum last month. Already have 3000+ miles on it unlike the amateurs above. (Just kidding.... had to drive to Florida and back due to some family issues)

We specifically bought now to avoid the new Tundra revamp. The TSS stuff is pretty nice overall and you can turn off what you don't like. I really wanted to avoid all the new ECO stuff they will probably cram into the new one. There were three major concerns I found after a LOT of research. The frame rust issue from ~8 years ago, the cam tower leaks, and the trailer break controller not working. No rust (other than normal) on the new models, the cam tower is supposedly fixed or greatly reduced in occurrence and they just issued a service bulletin for the break controller. Everything else is just normal wear and tear maintenance or just a fluke bad part that happens.

Compare that to your Ford or GM products with blown turbo's, cylinder issues, electronics failures! I can tell you that we saw a LOT of domestic trucks broke down on the highways driving to Florida that did not look that old.
