This crossed my IG feed but with no details. What bumper is this? Me likey...

The bumper cost $1,400. I emailed them a few weeks ago about that bumper

 

I like it, but that seems excessively expensive given what it is.

 

I couldn't agree more. .. that's why I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I feel like any fab shop could probably make this closer to $900

 

Yup. Figured as much. Seems like most custom fab bumpers, even super minimalist are way expensive.

 

Evil manufacturing makes one even smaller.... like the one on that raptor pic, but it's also around $1,400........ and that's half the material!

 

Man these things... I had the bumper on my Raptor fab'd by Baker Motorsports and I think I paid half that. Dayum.

 

Hey, yeah that's my truck. Both front and rear bumpers are made by SS Built and yes the pricing does seem a bit up there, but I wouldn't know of any other fab shop that would make one similar to it.

Been busy with work again and just enjoying the truck a bit more. Had a little oopsie last Friday while enjoying it and busted (luckily) just the radiator which ended up being replaced on the spot a couple of hours later.

What more info did you needed? My proximity sensors are still being utilized, but the only thing was not being able to use the Blind Spot Monitor sensors and there was no way to make the bumper look really clean with those big sensor box. Kind of sucks because it helps me a lot through my tinted window while driving at night. It has an integrated hitch receiver, but I haven't gotten a chance to tow or test that out either.

And your build thread filled in a lot of the details I was looking for. I should just call them, but maybe you know? Will they ship these bumpers? And any estimate on the towing capacity with that hitch?

 

They will ship and I think they told me the tow rating drops to around 5,800 pounds. Unless he was told something different, that's what I was emailed

 

I do love the look of the bumper though..... trying to decide if this is the next big buy

 

Thanks, from what I heard last time is that they will ship and will work with shipping to you on the bumpers. Also the towing capacity is like a grey area where they do not know and I don't even have a concrete answer for that, but I did see an instagram video of another person with the same bumper towing his toyhauler trailer out to tundras to sedona and claims to be pretty strong and solid. I don't know what length and weight is that toyhauler though.

 

Would you mind sending me the IG account name or info? I'd like to try and track the owner down and ask about their towing ability. Real world experience... With the Raptor and that bumper I had made, I basically had no confidence in its towing ability (not Baker's fault; he built it well. Rather the relocation combined with how I had the suspension set up just made it a no go). I'm not willing to give it up completely with the Tundra. Thanks again.

@5.7TRDProm-Thanks bud @Cement , yeah I towed our #6400 TT this weekend 124 miles with no problem. Obviously there is no tow rating capacity, but Steve assured I shouldn’t have a issue. Nice solid welds and gussets. Having said that, I wouldn't go towing #10,000lb each weekend till ssbuilt sorts out towing capacities. The bumper will require a 8-10” drop hitch
