So, I'm finally looking to pull the trigger on lifting my truck. I went down to the local custom shop and got a quote for the following:

6" Rough Country Lift / No Struts

    Nitto 35" Nitto Ridge Grapplers

Rockstar 20" rims Matte Black / Machined

The total was $5,300 which included all the accessories, replacement TPM's, etc. and an alignment.

    My questions are:

Is this a good set up ?

Is this a reasonable price ?

Any input, insight, or comments and recommendations would be greatly appreciated !

    Thanks in advance....

To me it depends on what youre willing to spend for what the lift will do. Are you planning to do any wheeling at all on trails or off-road? If you say yes, then spacer lift is not the way to go. I have a 6" rough country lift and am about to spend more than your cost to fix it right so i can get on the trail. Spacer lift is absolutely no good on the trail. If you plan to be a pavement princess (not saying its a bad thing) then you will be fine and just a matter if if your budget can handle the cost.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, Pavement Princess for sure, lol.

On top of that, my wife was not too keen on me spending over $5K on this....something about the cost of a vacation or something, blah, blah, blah :censored:

Anyway, I'll look into a level kit or cheaper 3-4" lift with some decent rims and tires on a budget.

Time to start diggin' through this forum for ideas !

    Thanks again !

I personally started with that same exact lift I love a tundra lifted alot but do yourself a favor and get the lifted struts . @Tundra4Pinay is right you do not want to off road it at all . will not work out for you. Here is my truck 6" rc lift now with the struts. Much better ride. Screenshot_2019-02-18-07-16-37-1.jpg

@Pcoz are you 4WD? If so, your rear crossmember will be cut, once that's done you won't be able to go lower in the future less you know a good welder, and if you don't want that, go 4" or lower, check out @Toytec Lifts you can do a 3/1 lift and still have 35's

I guess that's very true. I am one of the few lucky or unlucky few that didn't have to cut the rear crossmember . But yes the new lift kitsch from rough country you have to do this. I dont like the idea but all 6" and up kitsch do it. But you can also have just as much in a 4" kit all depends on what you want for your truck and budget.

Thanks ! I was just looking at that. I'll definitely check that out.

I was also looking at the Rough Country 3.5" lift. It's much cheaper than the 6" and looks like something I can do myself. Now I'm looking at what rims and tires will work....on a wife friendly budget

Looks good I still suggest doing the 3.5 lifted struts if you can you will have a less bumpy front end

I see your a 2015 I'm a '14, we may have the older version lift kit, a RC tech told me that this wasn't needed to be done, so technically we can take this kit off or we can get the kit that's can make us 4.5"

RC tech we can go 4.5" which would be rear blocks, U bolts, front spacers believe under $250

Yeah I’m not sure Ima like going lower than my stance currently, but I want to get on trails so I guess it’s a trade off

My main issue is I love the ride height now I'm at 6" I dont think I would go back down. Well the only way I would is to buy another truck lol

6 inch pro comp coil over lift kit, TRD air intake, 36 x 12.5 18 tires, Fuel Maverick 18 X 9 rims, Bushwacker fender flares, Rhino front bumper with 12000 pound winch, and 4.88 Nitro gears.
The other hidden cost is having to re-gear everything. I got the 6 inch coil over pro comp kit with 35" Mickey Thompson tires, and I noticed my transmission kept hunting for the 6th gear. Turns out the bigger tires drops your RPM's just enough to prevent the 6 gear from kicking in. Not to mention the loss of power. Re-gear cost me another 3500.00 but this was 4 years ago. Just something else to consider

The threads I read said 35 inch tires and up. This was years ago when I lifted my truck. I started experiencing those problems with 35 inch tires.

    A LOT... NEVER ENDS
I know the feeling... Who gave wives so much power... Mine has the look and I instantly regret bringing up whatever crazy idea I had.... Good luck with the lift decision and the backlash from wifey!!
