Diamondback Tonneau Cover

I was going to ask if it works better with the cargo system from Toyota. You went with a unistrut. Does it require one or the other or just install better with some backing like a unistrut?

 

I scored this HD for $400. Its for a Chevy and overhangs a little off the gate but I may by a tailgate spoiler to blend it in.

 

If nothing else, that's a hell of a deal. Even if u can't make it to work with the air design rear spoiler I'm guessing, worst case sell it for a profit and put toward the the se or HD that fits ur truck perfect.

It’ll work with either the Toyota system or Unistrut. Not sure about others. I’d installed Unistrut earlier as a substitute for the oem system. Much cheaper.

How long ago did you order yours? I put my order in 12 days ago so figuring it'll be about a week before it ships.

 

Ordered it on the 15th of April and received the email today. Says it should be delivered Monday or Tuesday next week.

 

Can someone with the 8 inch cross bin slap a tape measure on it and give me some dimensions? Maybe the over all height to were it rests on bed cap and the height of the actual side wall? Also the overall length? I have the capabilities to make my own so that info would be a huge help. Thanks in Advance...………………………..

Wow. Great forum! This is my first post here. I’m interested in getting a DB. I have a factory deck rail and also a factory bed divider (which I love and intend to keep.) Some posts mentioned to turn the knob on factory divider upside down to accommodate tonneau covers, but didn’t say if this would work for DB also. Does any of you run DB with factory bed divider? I understand that the divider won’t be able to freely slide which is ok to me. Just wanted to know if they fit. Thank you guys.

 

I'm not familiar with the factory bed divider, but I'm sure one of the other 3rd-gen guys will chime-in with a response. Welcome to the forum!

 

Have one from 2005 (on my old GMC 2500HD traded in for my new Tundra) ... still in great shape ... I'm thinking 25+ years for longevity

I'm guessing, only guessing since I dont have it, that u could. I'm basing my guess on the fact that I still have my factory handle/tie downs in my factory rails like such. If u zoom in pic u can make them out just under the cover. As u can tell in pic, my bedslide slides easily under the cover. Between those 2 products, I'm making an educated guess u can use your divider and even be able to slide it between the 2 db locking bars on each side.

If anybody confirms divider abiliy that would be great. Also, Op, great set up. I need to replace my soft tonneau cover. My tacoma has a bakflip and it kills my ability to use rail and it sucks because of it.

 

You can definitely use the rails with db. As u can see in my pic, I have the ability to slide those OEM handles in the rail everywhere I need them. The only issue u can run into with these is where the bars for locking the cover come down below the rails and slide under to lock in place. So if u have something attached to those handles and need to slide u will hit into those. Hard to explain but if u look in my pic u can probably see what I mean with the db locking bars.

You're welcome. There's also this to take into account for helping insure it will fit. Again, I make no guarantees bc I do not have. But just like I told u about the ability to still use OEM rails, theres also this to take into account. Under the DB cover there is channels between each cross brace. That gives extra height for mounting onto the side rail. I'd say every couple inches theres a channel that allows for more space above the factory bed rails. Maybe u can see what I mean in this pic of the channels. Both the front.


And the rear, under the cover has these channels to mount things higher in those gaps on the rails.






Hope this helps. If nothing else,I'm guessing u can see how many times I changed up my bed configuration before I settled on the bedslide and bed bin package. So yeah I have a bit of experience with a bunch of different setups and products back there lol.

 

Make sure you check your tracking info daily on this. Had the truck driver call saying he was on his way but I never received a call to set up a date for drop off. Ended up going to the terminal to pick it up. Installed it today in about 40 minutes, still need to adjust it some.
