Have been looking at a shell with a RTT option ad nauseum. Lots of great pics in the search threads for shells. However, is anyone running an A.R.E CX HD with the factory footpod rack?

I have a few questions if you have one.

    1) Are the footpods, that hold the crossbars, adjustable? Can they be cut down?
    2) Anyone running a track system on this shell? I talked to the dealer and they said any track system voids the warranty and that model doesn't come with a track system. JUst curious if anyone did it and made some mods.

The dynamic load on this shell is 550lbs.
So I was looking at attaching a track system and a rhino pioneer rack or front runner for gear when the RTT is not on. I ddin't really like the non-adjustability of the 4 foot pods and how high they stick up.

Here is an example but on a Taco.

    Function before sparkle.
I don't have the CX HD - selected the Z instead. However, if you closely look at these pics you can see how the rack mounts to the interior structure (only at 4 points - can't use a track). The pics are for a Colorado, but the design is the same on a Tundra. As far as I know, the footpads are not adjustable for location or height.

As a side note, 500 lbs dynamic load on ANY truck is huge. That's waaay more than any RTT and enough to mess with your center of gravity on freeway on/off ramps and or any off-camber trails.

Yeah I think that’s what I want. Just being a little picky.
