Added a rack and roof top tent! Took it out for the first night over the weekend, and everything worked great!

As weird as it sounds... I'm jealous of your nice looking battery tie down. Mine is very not black but brown and flaky.

Not sure. Do you have cruise control?

Depends what I am doing. For most general wrenching I wear leather gloves, these are what I wear most of the time. Mechanix leathers I picked up at home depot about 3 years ago, I just cut the velcro tab off.
    opplanet-mechanix-wear-material4x-original-glove-mg4x-75-008.jpg

If I am doing work with fluids, like oil/trans/etc then I wear nitrite gloves, whatever brand. Diamond makes a good one.

Somehow I pictured you thinking "hmm, my LSD sticker is peeling, let's replace it!"

I'm pretty sure they weren't available in 2001. I did a lot of research before I bought mine, and would've made sure I got one since I was towing a pair of 3 seat watercraft and was concerned about slippery boat ramps.

Changed my oil. Mobil 1 and one of my unobtanium AC Delco Ultraguard Gold filters. They only made them for a short time. They didn't sell well as the were something like $20. Bob the oil guy tested them & cut them open and said they were the best filters he'd ever seen. They weren't available for a couple years and then someone on my Land Cruiser forum, ih8mud.com, saw that RockAuto had them listed at $5 each and they had almost 1,000 in stock. They sold out in about a day. I bought a case of 24.

With all the maintenance I've been doing, I finally created a little memo on my phone with all my common specs.

    Thanks.

Mine was bad a few years ago when the 02’ was being neglected. A slight corrosion set in on the angled bracket corners. Got a new battery and ‘splurged’ on the felt washers which I always thought were BS.

Pull yours off and clean it up. I put two coats of big box bed liner and one quick coat of Rustoleum Black Matte on top. Was in a hurry that day due to rain and scuffed the Rad Reservior Bracket on accident which was still drying.

I went an extra step and put some dielectric grease on the battery cap corners under where the corner angles are located this day as well. There is some on the grounding wire and of course the battery posts themselves.

    Good job.

I do screen grabs of the 4 or so ‘Maintenance Pages’ from the manual and save them in Notes/Photos.

    Yes I do.

I have a blank black button next to my Fogs button. Maybe Fester has the right idea that its the mirror warmer? I do have power mirrors (not heated), but the controls are on the door in front of the window switches.

This is good info. I may have to steal it.

I made a service log in Word which I keep in my truck and record everything I do. It's helpful for me as I have a horrible memory.

It looks like this. I'm filling it up quickly.

I noticed the later years Toy moved the mirror controls from the door area (like mine) up next to the Fogs switch next to the steering wheel.

Back to the 02’ years, I wonder if the Limited had heated mirrors this year?

You should see my hand written log. From 0-100k miles its basic oil changes with a few transmission fluid and tire services. Basically, one page boring.

From 100k to 150k timing belt and new radiator mixed with oil changes notes. Boring one liners.

This year, from 155-163k(present) 3 exciting pages! And going on 4!

The fun is tapering off soon with the last piece of upgade/maintenance of lining the truck bed and maybe these Sponge Bob bumpstops.

Yeah. I've noticed you're basically inventing new work to do. :D

You really don't have much left to do. Have you considered replacing some of the aging rubber hoses? I wasn't impressed with the Gates radiator hoses I ordered. The lower hose fit fine but the upper hose was all wrong. I wasn't able to use it. I'd stick with OEM on those.

I keep an eye on the hoses for sure. My online mechanic resource says the older hoses are far superior than any after market. I’ll replace if they ever go bad.

I cringed when I saw you going to install newer aftermarket hoses the other day as your originals looked fine. OEM all the way on those hoses as they have perfect fitment and bends.

I started it so I wouldn't have to keep looking up the front end torque specs. Then I was in the store & couldn't remember what type of fluids I needed or how much I needed. Now it's all easily accessed on my phone.

You mind tracing those switch wires back to the connector? Just kidding.

I’m guessing from a logical standpoint its the mirror heater. One more plug option to consider if ever doing something electrical in the future.

Pulled up into a very steep driveway today and believe it purged the last bit of air trapped in the core today. Checked the reservior once back to the garage and topped off the last 3/16ths of the 3rd gallon.

Have about 400 miles of driving on the CeraTec now which is, according to reviewers, when the positive effects should start to take place. All is good. Noticing a hair quicker cold start. Action: A mix of 1-2-starts and 1-2-3 starts vs. old mostly 1-2-3 start.

All right, let's do this bullshit. Got everything ready to go to start tomorrow after work.

Fri evening - wash, final round of iron x, wash, nanoskin, meguiars 7. Let sit overnight.

Sat - clean off m7, make sure its even ish, wax.

Here's hoping the cool overnight temps are ok for the m7.

How cold American(none of that Celsius mumbojumbo) will it get? The #7 may be difficult to remove until the paint heats up. I would test one panel and see how it looks. If decent you may want to skip it sitting overnight.
