I just recently bought a brand new 2015 Tundra CM SR5. It has the Entune radio, but not the one with nav(sorry, I can't recall the difference in model names for it) . As far as apps, I get weather and traffic. My issue is this; when I tried to connect to the entune app, a message comes up and says that the VIN isn't compatible. Do I need to have the JBL entune radio to use the app? My salesperson was clueless about the system, but I just figured it would work. Don't get me wrong, the guy knew everything else about the truck, just not the one piece of info I needed. I also inquired with service about swapping out the head unit I have and having the JBL put in and was told that it isn't possible. So why make a big deal about it being an entune radio if the only benefits are HD Radio, weather and traffic. And, you only get weather and traffic when you're in an HD area!!!! I'm hoping that I'm doing something wrong and that there is a fix. If not, I'm going to be a little disappointed with a little bit of a bait and switch by calling it entune and it not really doing anything other than a normal radio. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me. I'd appreciate it alot!!!

I can't remember how I got it done but have you gone to the entune website and set up an account?
I've got the entune with JBL and it has a different amp and wiring than what you have. I don't know how yours sounds but I remember my stock Tacoma sounding terrible and while the JBL premium sound is much better than stock I think you'd be better off spending the cash at Crutchfield

IIRC one of the sales specialist (who dealt with going over all of the components of the Truck) said that you needed to setup your account first. Fortunately I already had it setup on our other vehicle so I all I had to do was pair my phone w/ the truck via bluetooth.

I have the Entune w/o the Nav. I'm not sure if there is another Entune radio, that isn't JBL, with Nav, so that may be the problem. I opted for one without Nav because I prefer using the one in my phone. I'm not heartbroken that I can't connect to the entune apps, because most of them, ie i❤radio and Pandora, are available on my phone and I just connect using Bluetooth and get the same effect. I was merely looking at the "cool" factor and battery usage on my phone. Thanks for the replies, but it looks like I'm stuck with a sub-par system until I upgrade. 40-some thousand, you'd think it would at least have a decent sound system. It's a good thing that I like the truck, because otherwise I would have jumped ship on my recent switch from th '12 CM TRD. It seems that I got less truck, overall, for more money. Anyway, enough of my bitching. Tha KS for the replies and have a great day!

Entune won't let me sign up because it claims my car isn't entune compatible. My radio/navigation doesn't work because I don't have the entune app (and was sold to me as entune compatible). Shitty that my truck doesn't work as advertised. Any ideas how to tell the app that it's wrong about my vehicle and to let me download the app?

Had same issue with my 2016 SR5 Tundra. Found out there are 3 different Entune radios used in the Tundra. Entune Audio (the basic), Entune Audio Plus (what my SR5 has) & Entune Premium Audio. Entune app only works with Entune Premium. For iPhone users there is another app called "Scout GPS Link". This is a half assed app that links your phone with Entune and adds a voice only navigation feature through your iPhone. Don't know if there is an Android version. Just a bit better than nothing but not much. Toyota made the Entune App but are not forth coming in telling you it's only for the Entune Premium System. My spin is the Tundra is a great truck but the radio and most other electronics are stuck back in 2010. They are either way behind the times in keeping these systems current or, if you're into conspiry theories, they are doling out the improvements at a slow rate because they don't have much to offer overall. Crutchfield offers several replacement radios that are Apple CarPlay compatible at a cost of $600 to $1400 but it's vague about what features/apps will even work with these. I'm waiting until the market sorts this all out and hopefully the options will be both better & cheaper.

My dealer made me well aware that the app only worked with the premium system. Nothing underhanded as far as I could tell...

Unfortunately all dealers are not the same. I was actually told to download the app by the dealer salesman and finally called Toyota customer service to find out it would not work with my radio. I don't necessarily blame the salesman because he may not have been properly trained. On the other hand, maybe he was sleeping. Who knows?

The basic entune blows. Was pretty disappointed when I found out I couldnt even add startup and shutdown pictures.

Could care less about the apps but I wish the dang radio was louder. Turn it up to 60 and you can still barely hear it outside the truck. So much for listening to music while I do mods.

Audio upgrade is next on my list. Wonder if its even worth it to just replace door speakers if the pos entune unit doesnt put out enough power though.

The Entune is behind it's time with these trucks. not really worth it IMO. However if you want it you need to make sure you have paired your phone and downloaded entune on your phone as well to get the update to your unit. A VIN number you could just get from a different vehicle just use google to search them. I had the Entune navigation in my 2013 tundra and changed it out since it was very basic and didn't like it.

I just picked up a 2016 Tundra SR5 TRD Offroad Crewmax. The sales guy told me to go to toyota.com/entune to sign up, I thought cool! Well my vin# is unrecognized, call him back go back and forth yadda yadda yadda, he will have to call toyota to figure it out. My window sticker says "Entune Audio Plus w/Connctd Nav Scout GPS Link App,...". Sales guy took this as the Entune system, well I will have to inform him what I learned from you fine people that it means I have to use the Scout GPS Link app not the Entune App. Oh well, I didn't Buy the truck for the Entune App Nav!

    Thanks for the info!!

I recently bought a 2016 SR, do I have the "entune basic" or not even an entune system at all? My salesman told me going to the SR5 I would have nav, satellite radio, and apps which I wanted but they didnt have the truck available I wanted so I just got the SR.

I was thinking about trying to replace my radio with the OEM Entune system, but it sounds like even the premium would not be worth the money. I would really only be interested in the iheart and possibly nav apps. But you guys are right the audio is terrible.
