I was looking around for the right deal for about 2 years and finally found it.
2017 CM Platinum. I just sold our trusty 04 dbl cab today. For a short period I had both trucks and a little bit of buyers remorse. But the more I drove the 17, the more comfortable I became. Had no problems letting go of Big Blue. Had some great family adventures in that truck though. Now for new adventures.

    2004:
    Rancho Quicklift, AAL
    Kenwood DDX491
    Off-Road addiction step sliders
Leer shell (found used and painted it a MAACO)
    Viper remote start
    Water Port
    ARB awning.

    2017 Came with:
    Level kit + Supersprings
    LED lighting - interior
    Lined bed
Method wheels on 305's as well as stock tires and rims.

To be honest, I'm not stoked on the wide tires and wheels on the 17. I'm thinking about some stock 18" SR5's powder coated gunmetal and some 285's. We'll see how it goes. first week of MPG was 9.2. Second week with keeping my foot out of it was 11.7. Maybe the skinnier tires will help. BUt I'm sure the weight of the shell and Decked system will offset any savings LOL.
Immediate plans are to pickup a shell, Decked system, grab handle mod, and fix the crappy stereo. Husky liners on order. Now just need to decide on shell type and stereo upgrades.

Thanks! My 04 got a lot of use and miles. Pictures look better than it was. Lots of dog scratches and some camping mishaps. But great truck and couldn't leave the Tundra platform.

Indian Creek Reservoir just outside of Markleeville / Grover Hot Springs. It was my boys and I that day with two other people on the lake. We limited out in about 20 minutes. I guess when the river is running to high they dump all the ordered stockers there.

I think when it’s time to replace my Tundra, I’ll have a hard time leaving the platform as well. For what drew me to the Tundra, I don’t see the competition coming close in the next five years or so. I keep waiting to be impressed and it just hasn’t happened yet. I’m all for another round of some 5.7 on the new Tundra.

Well, it has begun. It's been a busy few days but got a lot done. I won't bore anyone with install series, but I will tell you of the issues I had with most of the easy mods lol.
First Mod - Pro Grill from Sparks Parts .
Guide tab was broken. I was pissed. The thought of repacking, shipping, waiting for a new one irked me. I looked closely and the long tab seemed to be broken about midway and would still click in. SO I installed it and didn't have any rattling/loose issues.

Then I moved on to a shifter replacement and Driver's side Grab Handle.
Again, ordered from Sparks parts. Handle kit included everything EXCEPT the U-clip for the second mounting bolt. :frusty: A quick trip to the hardware store and $.59 later it was much easier than shipping and ordering.

I considered the charger mod, but ended up going with a Scoche magnetic charger due to location I prefer.

Next up was the ESP storage. Maybe it's me but the template was off about 1/4". Not a big deal but frustrating trying to line it all up. I ended up taking the cut carpet and tracing the bottom of the storage compartments for a quick trim and placed them into the bottom for a good fit. I also took some toolbox liner and lined the bottom below the ESP against the floor. After traveling a few miles I could hear slight rattles that drove me nuts. I also ended up trimming around the seat brackets for clearance. I don't know how but my ESP sat low and was slightly rubbing on top of the bracket. Probably my error in placement.

Next I took some more toolbox liner and trimmed a piece for the console tray. I throw my wallet/extra crap in there and hated it sliding. I think it measures 15/16" x 16 5/8". I backed it with double sided thin foam tape.

Next was the decked system. This took a lot longer than I anticipated. I ended up with an extra part that I didn't see in the instructions or video. It turned out to be the torsion bar below the drawers. Thank God I didn't have to disassemble anything.
Another problem I ran into is the locksets. Apparently, they are getting shipments of the lockets not having the threaded end to screw into the mounting bracket. A quick call and they took care of it right away. No charge. Outstanding customer service.
I also added the newer Waterport . I had the old version and ended up using it constantly. I like the mounting on the new version and built in pump.

That's it for this week. Waiting for the shell and install of the RTT.
I ordered an A.R.E CX HD with internal frame. I also ended up finding a deal on a Silverwing RTT on sale from Costco. Considering not a lot of RTT will take returns, the Costco option was a no brainer (and 1k) cheaper than most models.

    Stock for now...
Very nice! I’m super interested in how you like you’re ARE CX HD. I was totally planning on the ARE Overland cap but was quite sad when during my Phone order, they mentioned that if I was running a roof top tent the limit was 300 pounds. :(. I’m getting a 120lb tent (iKamper X-Cover) and with my wife and little girls, we will be like 450lbs. I know they have to underweight them a little bit for warranty and safety, but I’m not comfortable going that far over the rates limit.

Please post pics once you have your cap installed !!!

I’m tempted to go with the full height bedrack from Victory 4x4 but feel like I would miss the practical and secure storage of a cap. Sigh.

Great job on the rest of the mods, I want all of them but just convinced my wife to let me get the truck, all in due time!

Yeah , I was really tempted with a bedrock and maybe soft topper. I should be getting the shell in a couple of weeks. I'll post it up once I get it installed and setup.
