Most of the old timers on here know about my current build .. The tundra got a new friend last month.. mainly used while I work on the tundra and it's up coming down time.

As the building begins . Honestly I don't know how far I will take the cruiser in the building process but we will see.

i have a 4runner in the family 09 its my moms. There value in the fj is only going up... i could have flipped it and made 8 grand on it but after i drove it its a keeper. Does have a crawl mode on it something if i ever go somewhere to use it that is.

Cool, I am planning on buying a 2014 FJ Cruiser as an off-road toy. The small wheelbase is an advantage in most terrain I would want to tackle. I wish someone made a built in tent like the ursa-minor Jeep build pictured here. I would rather have that than a traditional rack and roof top tent. Or an easier ground tent like the Australian made OZTENT. I’m excited to buy an FJ in the near future, i wanted a 4Runner or landcruiser but smaller is better for tight trails.

I really like the FJ. Took a few years for me to, but I’ve grown to appreciate how unique it’s styling is. I’d like to have one in the stable.
Nice looking rig. Interested to see where you go with it.

I had a new 2014 FJ, traded it for a 2014 Tacoma (only had the FJ for 5 months), traded in the Tacoma for a 2018 Tundra 4 years later. Moral to my story, I wish I kept the FJ. It was such a capable vehicle, I just had problems with being able to use it to haul stuff. That's where the trucks did better for me, however, I wish I would have kept it and bought a used truck because I don't use my truck near as much for hauling anymore and would love an FJ for casual driving. My next vehicle will probably be a 4Runner, new/used doesn't matter to me, love the 4Rs and FJs. BTW, mine was identical to the OPs!

I traded my 2013 FJ Cruiser in on my 2019 Tundra. They gave me a bundle for that FJ. It was the only vehicle that served me as an investment .

I would recommend "chipping it". That was one of the biggest boosts I got from my 08 TT.

Next up added oem netting to back of the door.

Added the huskey mat.. unfortunately weather techs are up front but ok for now..

One problem that's common on the FJ cruiser is the rear camera failure.. replace the oem camera (replace is around 220plus). After finding out the mirror can see ccd image just fine replacement of a night vision camera ..

    Also added hitch cover..

I did see those and liked them .. one thing was if I decide to do storage box in back one guy noted ( I think YouTube) guy said to watch what you put on the door as things hit as door closes... honestly I don't think I will ever use what's on the door.

Thanks. How did you wire in a replacement camera? Did you take any notes about what stock wires were connected to the aftermarket camera?

I had a 2013 FJ bought new that was cursed. Never had a car wreck until that came into my life.

First month got collected in a fatal interstate wreck. We were okay, FJ got about 2 grand in damage. Two months later pulling my bosses car after it broke down, got to a 4 way stoplight and hit the point of no return when light turns yellow. Blaring my horn kid in daddies Corvette jumps the light tags my bosses car.

Month after that smash a deer on the interstate doing 75mph. Over 21 grand in damage. Insurance repaired it over a month and a half.

Kept the thing for two more years had several more close calls, and realized I choose to live and traded it in for the Tundra, still came out ahead on the FJ even after basically having a new front end on it.

I see it around town from time to time.

    Car Backup Camera. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FC28VDK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fJGZCbBEQJPRA

Goazo Adapter Cable from Speaker Wires to RCA Plug https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DFV9XQH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_BKGZCb47EC3Z4

6 foot rca cable (audio cable is fine what I used)

    Main parts you need..

With spare tire off get rid of the camera with two small Phillips screws.. disconnect the cable it will not be needed ..

Camera I use mount it upside down (drill holes for the screws) the cc'd works upside down the image or reverse... you will have to play with the adjust some if you are using spare tire cover like me done later.. run the power and video (rca thru the rubber grommet in door. Drop the back panel on the door.. Here is what I recommend dont do any splices in the back door. You will see below.

    IMG_20190504_174532_cf7e2acbe130745f2cdb5be290b8f007f6f07499.jpg

Ground the camera to the door as I did.
    Green wire is power.

    IMG_20190504_180857_07790d7f4a4a108ae737547781e96c860b6187c1.jpg

With camera mount where the old camera is you will have power and rca cable in the back door at this point.. route power and rca cables to rubber power grommet.. it does take some swearing and new cuss words but the wire will go thru...
    IMG_20190504_180233_29d00cfefb3e7ce8a62cead4aeb38d23890ea3ec.jpg

Once wire is thru zip tie cable in door panel leave slack

Remove jack and tools. You will see a connection like this.. now 180 the connection you will see 2 red and white wire that is 18/20 gauge wire this are the signal wires to mirror. Use the rca to wire splice those two and hook up rca cable from camera..
    IMG_20190504_182439_c0672eb183d7c8f75efa6fdcd854abfa910776dd.jpg

With all that done remove your driver's side tail light and tap reverse lights for power for the camera.. ( no pics of that).. after all that is connected close rear door and see if mirror has new image from the ccd. If it doesn't recheck power and video make sure you have solid connections..

    Any questions let me know..

Total time 2 hours and some new cuss words.

    Hope this helps
