What's a ball park cost for tuning or does it vary a lot? I'm having a hard time finding someone with decent reviews, and need to drive probably 2-3 hours to get to a tuner. One guy gave me a quote for dyno tuning at $750/2 hours. Which if that's normal fine, but $375/hr is one hell of a charge rate... Unless someone has recommendations around the Las Vegas - Salt Lake City range that's cheaper.

HP tuners requires 4 credits at $50/each so theres $200 right there. The rest is at the shops discretion. Go with quality not quantity. Also $800 is the going rate in houston

    None, yet....
Keep at least some quality high flow cats. You’ll thank me later. The 10hp loss in power isn’t worth smelling fuel every time you stop and have the windows down. After countless crawlers and performance cars without cats, I’ll always run cats in every exhaust I build. Getting too old to keep burning brain cells that way.

Also, I’m not a fan that even if you pay for stainless, you get mild steel flanges welded onto that system. Also, also, his exhaust systems are expensive AF. Much rather go to a reputable fab shop and have a 304 setup TIG welded and back purged, vs spray transfer, for similar money.

Tuners have to pay for the $60k dyno sitting in their shop somehow. As people mentioned though, it’s $200 for just access to the ECU. The rest is straight time. If we go by your math, you’re paying $275/hr. Most reputable shops I’ve dealt with don’t give a time limit though. They give a price to tune a vehicle and the time is whatever it takes. Generally, it’s a drop it off for the day or two type thing.

    This.

So in addition to paying for the guy's skills, you're also paying for dyno time. Loading and unloading take up a lot of time. 750 isn't cheap, but it's not the most expensive I've seen. I've seen cheaper at group tuning days, but I don't think there will be enough trucks to do one. I've seen more expensive for private tuning time as well.

@the_midwesterner Agreed Keith did custom mid pipes with my stock cats. The dyno tune on my Sequoia was $800 and it took the better part of the day
