Got my new LED headlights & foglights working properly. I installed Beamtech LED 9003 headlights & 9006 foglights. I chose these because of good reviews, fanless cooling & reasonable price. They're very bright. Of course when i installed them, they stuck on high beam & the fogs didn't work. I emailed Beamtech around 10:00 pm & got a near instant response. I described my issues and they said they would send me their resistor harnesses at no charge. 3-4 days later, i received the harnesses & now all is well. They have have a good beam pattern with good cutoff and no apparent glare.

1st pic is my refinished headlights with the Beamtech LEDs.
2nd pic is the resistor harnesses Beamtech sent me.
3rd pic is low beams only.
4th pic is low beams with fogs.
    5th pic is high beams
6th pic is low beams with fogs.
7th pic is beam pattern on a wall
8th pic is from oncoming position. There is really less glare then my phone shows.

FYI Those resistors get hotter then a MF.
Mine melted some wires. I ended up mounting them to a small Aluminum plate and the mounting the plate to the truck to help dissipate the heat.

While doing the coolant re-convert yesterday, I discovered a leak at the windshield wiper neck seal at the tank reservior when I topped it off.

Seeing green on the driveway after converting to pink had me wondering. Traced it back fast.

The fix was pulling the neck and cleaning up the rubber washer seal. I twisted it around the hole to give it a fresh memory.

Dad bought this tool box back in 1973. the deepest drawer was full of old bolts , nuts , brackets , just all sorts of stuff. I have kept it that way since then . Seems I never fail to find that on e little washer or maybe a small screw that holds the points on an old chevy distributor . Probably my best drawer in tool box.Nuts.jpg

This has been missing for a while. Anyone still have theirs intact? Guessing its some kind of paper gasket/washer type material as specs say its not reuseable.

I'm guessing just to stop the drum from rusting to the axle shaft. A smear of anti seize seems to work just fine.

Just a heads up on the Katanas as another option. They have the cooling fans which are so quiet I cannot hear them (or I’m going deaf, what?) and do not need resistors (I am running the LED fogs also).

$50 out the door. The fan housing is slight hot to the touch, but you can still touch without burns. The pack doesn’t get hot.

I wonder if one could use dielectric grease in lieu of driving to the auto store and purchasing anti seize?

Edit: Grease and brakes not a good combo.

Bumping this old post. I've greased that zerk multiple times and not had grease come out of that area. I'm afraid to pump too much in as I've heard this can cause damage. I'm still trying to diagnose this mystery issue.

Can anyone confirm you can "over grease" this. @Festerw you seem to be knowledgeable on this based on other posts I found.

Are you seeing grease around the shaft where the axle and slide yoke meet? If so, its working its way out with regular driving.

Sometimes no grease will exit when I use the grease gun on it, but after driving I notice the grease has worked its way out.

1 out of 6 times I see grease exiting on the yoke shaft when greasing. As long as you see some after driving, then its doing its job. Wonder if there is a large storage well in there somewhere?

Maybe a dumb question, but what is the best way to clean the U-Joints after they have been long neglected. I don't hear anything or notice any issues, but I want to grease them up and clean them off. I'm certain there is tons of build up on them.

Degreaser? Can't see how that would hurt.

That would be this area correct?

There and I want to say mine will sometimes have some come out on the yoke end by the rear axle but I may be getting it confused with another grease point.

You can pull the whole shaft out and it will separate into 2 pieces if you want to clean it up and make sure it good. Just make sure you mark how everything was aligned so you don't have balance issues.

My only concern is that the fans will fail. As computer tech I see failed fans all the time.

Good call. Yes and this was/is a concern of mine going into the whole LED conversion. Figured I’d take a chance on these. My fogs are fanless PerfectFits. The Katanas Headlights have 2 year warranty I believe.

Its a pick and choose situation. Cooling fans going out, or heat sinks/resistors superheating things to death.

I use a small flathead screwdriver with a clean rag wrapped around the tip. Just work that set up back and forth like flossing teeth all around using different angles of attack. You’ll be surprised at how much cack has built up if neglected like mine were for years.

You might need about 7-8 pumps to get grease popping thru the joints.

The back propellor has 6 greasable zerks. 3 at the double cardan. 2 at the rear of prop. 1 at the front near carrier bearing.

The front 4wd prop only has 2 zerks, but need a special tip to access them. I made one that works by grinding an angle off the side of a regular tip such that it slides past the block point. You’ll see what I mean.

Thats the area. Looks dry. Keeping pumping. Jump up and down on the rear bumper to get things yoking. Wipe that crud off first.

That's your pictures LOL. I just took a screenshot of the pic you posted to confirm the area you were talking about.

Actually, it was originally Festerw's but you wrote on it and reposted it last year.

My yoke has never looked that dirty!

Must be festers because those tire threads don’t look anything like I’ve ever had.

If you would have told me back then I would be driving a Toyota truck one day, I would have laughed . Circa 1975, my first vehicle , 39 ford pickup, did 24 coats of hand rubber lacquer when body work was done.39 pickup.jpg

Worked on the Parking Brake Adjustment this morning. Performed the specs as best as possible due to not being able to remove pin from siezure.

Felt the bell housing hook to cable No. 1 slack using hand yoga deep tissue reflex technique. Removed the slightest slack there and readjusted the adjustment bolt.

Moved on to tightening the (very little) slack in the cable at turnbuckle under driver seat.

Result: Very little improvement UNLESS I really STOMP! the parking pedal. Never had a PB that needed to be maxed out like this to barely work its magic.

    Cool pic!

Yeah about the Toyota driving. Our family bought a used Corolla and it was past down to me. Almost 40 mpg and the reliablity of not breaking down every other month like the big 3 really was a game changer.

Moved on to multiple Hondas and back into Toyota again years later. I think the 1st Gens Tundras were the last hurrah for the old Japanese WWII Corporate Toyota execs and engineers.

    W. Edwards Demming is a great case study. The Japanese culture really moved on from the war and took what we had and made it reliably better consistently, due to his influence.
