T2BBR4TWAG2T2S aka: Tundras 2 Big Bear Run 4 Those Who Aren’t Going 2 Tundras 2 Sedona

Ok, for those of us who are not going to Tundras 2 Sedona, we have for you a nice trail run up to Big Bear.

The plan is to converge at the Starbucks - address is 11412 Fashion Court, Hesperia, CA 92344 - next to the Union 76 gas station off the 15 Fwy. and Ranchero Road exit, this would be a good time to top off on gas before heading out.

Time: I personally will do my best to be there by 9:00, rolling out being planned at 10:00.

    Route: East on Ranchero Road
    - turns into Ranchero Street
    - Left on Danbury Road
    - Left on Arrowhead Lake Road
    - Right on Rock Springs Road that turns into Roundup Way after Kiowa Road
    - Right on Bowen Ranch Road, up on dirt road to Coxley Road Trail, merge Left towards Big Bear.
    - Trail will turn into Rim of the Valley Drive NF-3N14
    - end at Dana Point Park to cook up food and hang out or plan to eat somewhere.

I know @Shellboyz was just there with his family, read about his trip here:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/coxey-road-to-big-bear.44701/

I am also told by those who have driven this trail that it is very mild, though it could be possible some places could be washed out, but passenger cars have been seen on this trail and there may be a few spots of possible scraping.

There should be lots of places to stop and line up the Tundras for an opportunity for pics and enjoying the trail.

Do your due diligence and map out the route and study it. I will try to have the route printed up and have on hand a few copies available.

Cell coverage is practically nil, so bring a radio if you have it.
I have two I will bring but they are new to me so I will study up on its use but I also hope someone with experience can guide me and others on programming.

The day before I will PM those committed my cell number so if anyone is late you can let me know.
Please no late nite drunk texting!

This is the trail i had to turn back on last week.
    https://goo.gl/maps/SgNGfEVDJXz8i7mX8

it is directly after 3N59..The Tundra fits without pinstripes but the road towards the end has some very challenging but doable sections. Worth a look!
Small ledges and tough angles from the looks of it.

PS: I am out for this trip the wife would kill me if i took her on the same trail one week after the other.

I have a basic 30k recovery kit in my truck, but doubt we'll need it on this trail. As for radios, I've only used GMRS with buddies who have similar radios. I just picked up a Baofeng so I'll need some programming instructions too @Tundra4Pinay but I'll do some research beforehand in case we're on our own.
Beyond that, thanks for championing this trip, can't wait to see your Baja1000 trophy truck too!

You can use your gmrs too or lend it to someone who doesn’t have a radio. Just punch in the corresponding channel in on your baofeng and get everyone else on the same channel.

Looks like so long as you can adjust to a certain frequency it should be good, so whatever you feel comfortable paying based on your budget.
