Thanks for the info! I have been itching to set up a Spotless rinse station in my garage but just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I was pretty much set on the CR Spotless but after this I might just go DI Rinse Pro 50 if it's going to save in the long run. This would make washing my black Tundra sooooo much nicer.

WM - JUST got mine today as well and converted.....

ZERO readings are what we want right? lol

I reprimed my unit and now well see how long this will last. My resin totals and estimates are right on with what you said as well

My thing is i have a 100 foot hose.. i did all the calculations.. it would take me 35 seconds at my washer rate to bleed the system of spotless before i could bypass with shit water

Having said that - the test is on.. lets see how long i can go..

    thanks for ur writeup....

    i know i need to clean... :)

Never heard of di rinse, I’m going to keep an eye on this. I’m starting on the inside of my garage and plan on adding a spotless rinse to the plumbing.

Awesome. Thanks so much for the information. I will be on the look out. I love my Spotless unit. I’ve used it 3 times so far - only on final rinse though. My black truck dries absolutely spotless. I haven’t dried any vehicles in a month!

I’d definitely go that route if you don’t already have the CR. You’re bypassing the cartridges from the get go that way.

Yep. As soon as that sucker hits “1” you’re getting spots. I keep a separate hose that’s only used for the spotless.

I’ve only dried if I’m applying a product right after. It’s awesome.

Edit - After @booyaa tried his, he thought I overestimated how many refills I’d get out of the bag. I was doing it from memory this morning, so I just went and checked again.

He’s right, I don’t think we’ll get as much out of one bag. Conservatively let’s say three refills from one bag. That sound accurate @booyaa ?

I would estimate 5 MAYBE 6 canisters from a whole bag (from DI rinse)

    But still..

barring any issues with those tubes or function.. all we need to do is find affordable resin and its ball game bro....

the key will be how many gallons will we get from a full fillup of both canisters with resin.. if its considerably more than the plastic cartridges, its so worth it

from initial glance.. it seems very worth it to me

    time will tell

can we rename this thread "ULTIMATE proof that White is the best" What in the actual Eff did I just read, you paid $600 for 4 months of water clean enough to grace your (pretty needy) black Tundra so that you could then have the 'luxury' of cleaning your own truck?

great info. another option is to run another line to a sillcock (wall hydrant) with soft water. I use one (soft water) for washing vehicles and the other (hard water) for the garden. No spots using the soft water hydrant. But i do have the best color as well....SUPER WHITE!

I eventually plan to get a water softener installed in my home, and plan to do the same. It’s not just with the truck. It’s a real struggle keeping shower doors, countertops, etc clean.

I know exactly what you mean. Hard water is also tough on your skin and dries it out. At least it does for me. cue: Silence of the Lambs... it puts the lotion on the ...

It’s not just the black truck. I also have two gray vehicles and a red one. People who buy white trucks aren’t the target audience, as they clearly don’t care about appearance from the start.

You do have a point though. $600.00 is a month’s pay for directv installers.

This is the first one I’ve ever owned. It’s the reason I had to learn detailing.

I had a black vehicle for 20+ yrs. I will be the 1st to say when properly detailed (like your truck) ... nothing looks better. I am just gettin to old to keep up with that. I detail 2-3 times a year and maintain with weekly washes.
btw dumb question maybe.... how do you polish/wax or sealant ... the top of the truck? this is my 1st crewmax truck. Do you just get a ladder out? or you use truck steps? thanks!

Yes, a ladder. I have a Little Giant that’s really stable.

I got one of these a while back, but haven’t used it yet.

Definitely. I got one at Costco a year or so ago. It was marked down to a hundred bucks so I jumped on it. We used them back in the day when I worked for a sign and awning company.

One word to remember for whole-house softeners: FLECK! Buy online, install yourself, save a ton.

So, these CR Spotless and DI Rinse devices are essentially small, inline water softeners where you run until the resin loads up and then you replace the resin rather than regenerate? I wonder if ordinary softener resin would work (won't be changing color)...I think I bought 1.5 cubic feet online for about $100.

On the dedicated soft water sill cock: I have one, and my experience is if I've used hard water to hose off the truck, it's still not real easy to rinse all traces of the hard water off the paint. I have to go over the truck several times to get it completely rinsed free of hard wash water. I can still get water spots with half-azzed rinsing.
