    2003 Tundra V8 4WD "TRD Off-Road" Limited (Access Cab)
    Greetings from Sunny San Diego.

    Long time Toyota owner (1978 Corona, 1987 Corolla FX16, 1993 Geo Prizm LSi (Corolla under the hood), 1992 Camry Wagon, 1992 Toyota Pickup (L4 - wife's), 2003 Corolla S, 2001 Prius (Daughter's).

After taking my 2003 Corolla nearly everywhere, often loaded down with kayak fishing gear, I took it on a trip on the East (Mex 5) side of Baja, which happened to coincide with tropical storm (downgraded from earlier hurricane) Rosa. While I never got stuck in mud or sand, I also drove over a lot of rocks (after getting out of the car and moving a lot of other rocks out of the way). Long story short, the Corolla's spare tire well has been re-sealed using JB weld putty and will be my currently 15 year-old son's first car, since he can't do much MORE damage to it. So I wanted something with 4WD and more clearance.

So I got a 2003 Tundra V8 4WD Limited Access Cab. Mileage is not low, but it's in decent shape. Currently has a camper shell of unknown make on it (windows and locks from "Creation"). I'd like to get a Four Wheel Camper or similar pop-up for the bed, but that's going to be a longer search. More immediately I want to get a better seal around the junction of shell and the top of the bed.

On my short list are repairs to the driver seat. As is typical for truck of this age, it is torn (and there is a chuck of the exposed foam that is loose and has ended up on the side of the driveway after my wife has driven the truck. Also the seat belt light flashes even when the seat belt is fastened. I pulled the (also power) seat bottom from a same generation Sequoia at the junk yard. Not a perfect seat, but in better shape. Gray rather than tan. Not sure yet about wiring harness, but I think I can potentially swap out the cover and cushion separately from the metal frame & wiring.

Welcome from San Diego. If you ever want to caravan to Baja hit me up! I'm always up for a trip South. I used to off-road my s10 2wd down there all the time, on fishing trips. 4wd guys would always laugh when I rolled up on them in the middle of no where.

Update: my wife used the truck and now that big chunk of foam from the seat is gone.

To be fair, her legs are much shorter than my 34" inseam, so getting out of a 4x4 Tundra probably involves a bit more sliding across the edge of the seat for her.

But that moves the seat install up my priority list a bit.
