I noticed driving my wife car the other day I get a weird downshift. This happens at slower speeds. Transmission fluid is at normal level. Any ideas of what causing this?

So we moved up and over a pass, meaning we have to drive a steep pass up and over everyday for work. Since driving up the pass my wife noticed her Rav4 downshifting and upshifting hard. We just replaced the sparks plugs for 120,000 miles maintenance. Now starting to wonder if the transmission need to be flushed and fluids changed. That seem right? I think she had is done before but I can't remember.

Update, looked back through the maintenance records and transmission fluid was changed in 2015. She driven 30,000 miles since then. Not sure what the fluid change intervals are.

A semi anal retentive guy (not gal) will change auto tranny fluid/oil at 50,000 mile intervals. Including filter.

What color is it on the stick? Pic?

Try something simple first. Try cleaning the mass aiflow sensor with some proper spray.

    Intuitive transmission maybe.

Starts acting in sport mode, hit the cruise control, will stop it. Wifes car does the same. It will shift normal.

    Maybe......

V6 or i4? We have a 2010 v6 with 90k, trans fluid hasn't been touched (planning at 100k) and it shifts like new

Where is the mass air flow sensor. What spray do you suggest?

Found a video on how to get to the sensor, and to use mass air flow sensor cleaner. I should let the sensor dry or an hour before I reinstall it. Hopefully this will help.
