Bought the wife a new Highlander about a month ago and still not sure how I feel about it. My question for you all that have a highlanders are they dependable? This suv has way more bells and whistles than I need but she loves it. Will it be as reliable as most Toyota’s in 10 years or have any of you had issues with your highlander? Likes dislikes comments

    Thanks for your opinions.

We have one, sometimes i feel like we should have done the 4R instead but the highlander does offer loads of comfort and features. We do enjoy it

    They are comfortable for sure.
But the v6 feels weak to me and I worry about the whole shutting off at stop lights how long that’s going to last. I quess I’m just old school . Lol and since when do we need electric motors to lift the rear hatch ???

You will be just fine...its a Toyota. We are on our 2nd Tundra and 3rd 4Runner. Can the "shut off at stop lights" feature be turned off? I know it is an option on some vehicles. If you want a little quicker off the line acceleration, put a Pedal Commander in it.

My wife drives a 07 RAV 4 with a v6 in it. 110,000 miles. I have been trying to get her to replace with either another RAV 4, highlander, 4runner or a used land cruiser. She says nothing wrong with the RAV. And shes right. Been a great car. My nephew drive old highlander from the 1st or 2nd year they came. Handed down from his dad. No issues. You should be fine.

I felt like the highlander has dramatically more power than the honda. I test drove both, the highlander is a rocketship and the honda pilot is a slug. Unfortunately my wife preferred the honda features over the horsepower :/

my mom has had 2(on 2nd one now) and has enjoyed them. first was around a 2012 i believe and 2nd one is a 2017. I've taken them on road trips and been happy with how they were. first one lasted a while with no issues at all

My wife has one as well, we really enjoy it. We both wanted to get her a 4Runner but ultimately the Highlander was a better rig for hauling around kids and groceries, etc. I do all the maintenance on it, same as the truck, to make sure it stays in good shape. The cylinder deactivation does worry me a little but realistically we probably won’t have that car as long as the truck so we won’t be around to deal with it if/when it becomes a problem.

Drive it like you stole it, its a Toyota. Dad had one go over 280k..no problems except a wheel bearings and then the front frame rusted through.
