Attached are some photos of the mods update.
T-Rex266 - Thank you for your suggestions and recommendations, Greatly appreciated!

Hugo Huerta - Thank you for you assistance in ordering the kit for my application. Your assistance was greatly appreciated.

Basics - 2019 Tundra Crewmax, SR5 (Cement), with the Off-Road Upgrade Package & Convenience Package.

    Level/lift kit,Toytec TU-3A (3" front-1" rear), Truck is awesome, sits perfectly level.

    Tires, Cooper ST Maxx 295/70 - R18.

Cap ARE Z type, color matched.

FYI in regards to the tires, at least in my application, not only did I have to remove the small front mud flap, but also needed to trim the sides and corners of the front skid plate (approximately 1" per side) to eliminate any possible interference, when wheels are turned lock to lock. No big deal, and it may be due to each tires tread pattern and design. There is some reference info on the web that mentions 295/70 - R18's will fit a Tundra with no mods and by simply removing the small mud flap, NOT TRUE! Wasn't a big deal, skid plate was easy to correct, just be aware that could be a possibility when going to larger tires.

Just for grins I also attached a photo of our Turtleback camping trailer, we purchased this before getting the Tundra when we had our white 4Runner, the camping trailer was desert sand. So, my wife keeping with her color coordination requirements, went out and had the trailer wrapped in gray camo, to more closely match the truck, all in all not to bad, besides she paid for it.

Anyway, I gave this truck a nickname of BA truck (BAD ASS), now it's more fitting to the nickname!

OBTW, forgot to mention, when I first drove it after the cap was installed, my first impression was it was much quieter on the inside, I'm thinking with the cap extending all the way to the back, noise from the rear wheels that would normally come up over the side of the bed is now eliminated, maybe I'm just psycho, but it sure seemed quieter to me. Any one else have a cap installed that noticed the same phenomenon.

Just had the level/lift, tires, and cap done within the last 2 days, haven't checked yet but from what I'm hearing, and its mostly related to the tires heavier and more contact surface area, probably about 1 to 2 MPG,and maybe closer to 2 to 3 with the tires and cap!

Factory tires were Michelin LTX AT2 (275/65-R18) - Diameter 32.1", Width 10.8", the Cooper ST Maxx (295/70-R18) Diameter 34.3", Width 11.6", didn't weigh the tires but the difference is substantial. As far as the cap goes when it comes to ARE, LEER, or Snugtop, they are close price wise however the frameless design of the "Z" series and believe it or not the hinge design (very substantial) rear window, were the two factors that made my decision pretty easy.

Your reply was not that far fetched, the wife actually wanted me to look into it. I told her if she has $300 - $500 burning a hole in her pocket that she should get them.

I noticed when I installed my cap, it took away some of the bed bounce. Must be the extra weight of it helped.

Didn't think of that, but that may very well be why it seemed quieter to me. In any event I have no regrets on installing the cap. Thanks again!

The mods really make the truck better suited for our off-roading, camping, and fishing expeditions, and truth be told came at an affordable price and very limited rework of any other parts! If you would like any other information just let me know!

I went to the place that I bought the ARE from for my last truck I had I was quoted $2500 with install and front window fold down. Seems about average so im good with that. When you roll the rear window down how is the sound when driving on the highway? The whole reason I want a shell is for my dog he goes to the lake just about everyday fishing or walking and he swims and I want to get katzkin seat covers. Do you think enough AC will pass iin the back on super hot days? I see you live in AZ lol
On the lift, is going with that type of lift have any negatives to it long term? I don't shinola about lifts I was going to get 6112 in the front and 5100 in the rear but not sure if I can raise the rear with just shock or if I need more parts, I will call around soon ive been waiting to get some time on the stock tires and do everything all at once but im getting impatient now after looking at your truck lol I would like to have a little rake since I tow often and I don't do much offroading I do some every year but only 3-5 times so most of driving is street. Price difference between shocks and the toytec kit is huge but my question is how are they long term?
How are the st maxx? I was going to do ko2 again like I had on my last truck but those st maxx looks really good and they are American made (cooper) from what I was told. I have a sway bar, exhaust and trd skid plate , other than the trimming of the skid plate the sway bar is fine?
Thank you for the information enjoy your truck looks sweet.

    • Our ARE "Z" series was $3,000 with the drop down front window and install.
    • With the rear window rolled down the noise level seemed a bit quieter than without the cap.
    • There may be some transfer of cool air to the cap, haven't tried that yet, temps haven't been that hot yet. Depending on how much air gets to the back, maybe some type of insulation material could be compressed/stuffed between the truck and cap.
    • According to the experts (Dealer I bought the Tundra at), this is the level/lift kit they install, and that was based on some initial research/experimentation. When customers requested their trucks to be level they initially installed a 2 1/2 spacer in the front only, once installed the nose was still slightly lower, so installation of a 3" front and 1" rear left the truck sitting perfectly level, that's what I was looking for. In addition the dealer also mentioned that installing lift/level kits up to 3" did not affect any of the vehicles sensors if equipped. Raising the vehicle any higher than 3" they (the dealer) would not guarantee that the sensors would not get screwed up, that's all I needed to hear. With the 3" front and 1" rear level/lift kit you'll want to install the diff drop kit as well (improves the CV angle). I would suggest talking to Hugo Huerta at Toytec 1-303-255-4959, he is a really good resource and would probably be able to lead you in the right direction.
    • The Cooper ST Maxx was picked on consumer reviews and a lot of great information from this forum. And as you stated "American" made with a reputation of excellent quality and customer service. To the best of my knowledge and this of course is related to the 3" x1" level/lift kit, the only addition was minimal trimming of the skid plate sides and corners, approximately 1" per side.
    • I'll give updates on this forum as miles are put on the tires. My wife drives the vehicle as well, and she absolutely loves the tires, not any noiser than the stock Michelins, and she claims she has better feel of the road.
In any event hope the information has been useful, and good luck with whatever decisions you make!

What do you think about Toyota not fixing the PCS sensor recall on any Truck above stock height? Hopefully you have that in writing what the dealer told you. If you did, I would love to see any documentation. I was even shown pics of lifted Tundras as a selling point because of how good they look with a slight mod ie lift and tires. I wish I had it in writing when the salesman told me I’d never have any issues from a 2” lift and larger tires. I can’t even get them to give me a document stating they won’t repair my truck unless I bring it back stock.

Hopefully you don’t have any issues because There’s a good chance Toyota is going to put the screws to you.

The dealer mentioned the fact that Toyota would not cover any sensor issues on trucks that have been lifted/leveled or otherwise modified from stock set up. They did also say that of the thousands of level/lifts they have done for their customers, they have not had one come back with sensor issues. That was good enough for me, so I guess I'm willing to roll the dice.

No I had my truck for a year before I added it. I bought a Snugtop Super Sport for mine. Perfect fit and color match. I've done a few long trips this month and have averaged around 18.5 to 19mpg!
