All, I'm looking at Rhino Rack's HD bars for my cap but can't find a sample at the local shops.

Does anyone have HD bars or know the approximate cross-section dimensions on the bars?

The bars look like this(Part# RB1500B):

I have an email into Customer Services but no response yet.

After getting no response from my email to Customer Service for 3 days, I opted to call. I was told the HD bar is 40mm x 40mm (1.6"); and they generally never use them in recreational applications. The sell them for construction vehicles, whatever that might mean. Also the T-slot is not the same size as the Vortex bar T-slot. I asked for a mechanical drawing but was refused.

If you want a true Heavy Duty crossbar, check out Yakima's new HD bar. It will work with their quick release SkyLine tower. It is bomber.

I checked out the Yakima HD crossbar and I agree it is a beast. Over designed IMO. I was hoping for a slotted bar more along the dimension of the old-school square Thule or round Yakima bars my 1.5x the size even. I can't really say why but I'm just not a fan of aerodynamic bars.

I understand. I don't care for the Aerodynamic bars either. The HD bar is not truly Aero and far enough away from it for me. I get it though. The HD Bar is slotted.

Looks like the Thule Probar might be a viable option. Has slots top, rear, and bottom!

A new crossbar Thule is coming out with for their roof rack systems.
