Let's talk pressure washers

Nice, I almost pulled the trigger on that too but wanted to see what the soap function was like on this first. I am planning on picking up the Ryobi water broom tho for the undercarriage.

So...I'd like to use this de-ionizer with a pressure washer.

For anyone who may have both, which would connect to the water line? Like, what order would it be?
1 - Water line + de-ionizer + pressure washer? OR
2 - Water line + de-ionizer + pressure washer? Or should I use one first over the other? Pressure wash clean, use foam cannon, rinse with pressure washer and or de-ionizer?

 

I was looking at this as well (until I saw the price and cost for recharges). I was planning on only running the final rinse thru the de-ionizer w/o the pressure washer TBH and just using a regular hose and spray nozzle for it.

 

Yeah, it looks like the more you use it the faster you need to recharge. Makes sense for the final rinse.

 

The PPM (or whatever metric that was) apparently plays a role too.

 

I know Jason War Machine got the de-ionizer for xmas and was using it a lot, until he got ceramic coated and backed off since beginning of the year.

 

I think a pressure regulator may be needed as well for some of those units if the pressure coming out of your spigot is too high. I think mine comes out at 115 or so the last time I checked. One of the units I was looking at had a max operating range of 90 PSI.

 

Makes sense! I've had plumbers comment on the great water pressure from the Water Co, never checked what it is so maybe washer with less PSI would be fine. Are regulators or PSI measure instrument in hardware stores?

Yeah, he was washing his truck and the family's other vehicles so not sure if it's getting more use on the other vehicles cuz the Tundra is the only one that has ceramic. I'd like to consider that but no way anytime soon...getting new suspension and that's eating me dry!

 

Yeah, you should be able to pick up both at Home Depot, Lowe's or just about any plumbing store.

I work in a water dept and I'm guessing that the ppm stands for parts per million. So it's basically saying how much of a certain type of shit is in your water, the higher shit, the higher ppm.

 

It does. I just can't remember if they were using ppm or another metric.

 

Is that something an average homeowner can test on their own? Or specialized analysis?

 

Are u on well or city supplied?

Not so much city but a water system that I believe gets from wells. I seem to think they put out annual reports, just not sure now if it’s quality analysis now that I think about it...

Ok so u have a private water co supplying ur water. They're required by law to do sampling every so often. U can call them up and ask what they got in their past sample. It wont be your house but it will be from an area near you.

 

Ok. I seem to think they may have the reports online. I’ll have to check.

 

We do weekly sampling so if u called us we could tell u what we got for the week from a house in your area. Besides that we only post results online for like annual reports or if we were to fail something.

Anytime. Ur best bet is probably to call them and just ask. They can tell u exactly what ur looking for.

 

I’ve slowed down due to weather, but still wash all of them when I can. You still have to wash with ceramic, it’s just easier.

I’ve actually come to the conclusion that the guy who did my Ceramic did a shitty job. Without Hydro2 and Beadmaker, it’s really not as slick as it’s supposed to be. I also don’t have the “wet look” that others do. I just don’t have the results that others have. Either my expectations were too high, or the guy half assed it.

 

You can get a little kit at the hardware store to test it.

 

Yes this too. But that's why I was asking if on well or not. If well that's only real option to get quick results. If paying for water a phone call, without spending money can get immediate results.
