This video has me feeling reckless with my bank account.. haha. It's kind of long but worth it to watch the whole thing. The level of detail involved here is astounding.

    Enjoy!

I stopped watching that video as soon as I saw they put a GM motor.

I was really into this (cause I love land cruisers) until he talked about the drivetrain. Than I stop watching.
    Ruined land cruiser.

I mean, it’s not ideal... but I’d take one if they were giving them out.

There is a guy who lives down the road from me building one from that same gen. I don't think his will compete with that monster though! Bad-arse build!

That GM powerplant is a great choice for that SUV. I just sold my 6.2L 420 hp GM Silverado because the 8 speed tranny was a weak point. Those naturally aspirated LS motors are the kings of gas engines in power and torque. Drive one...

In a Corvette, even more smiles for miles.

For me, I wouldn’t want the old I-6 craptastic motor either, supercharged or not.

    E0D04D4F-351F-45EA-8C0A-50A25DEADD91.jpg

I’ve seen this exact motor for 6399.00. That’s a hard sale on running anything else.

This is actually my third 5.3 truck. I owned a 04 cat eye crew cab. Ran it till 430000km and sold it in 2014. My dad saw it driving a couple months ago!

My wife has a 2008 Tahoe with the 5.3. All in all not a bad engine, no major problems. But it has a rough idle, kinda like a old truck with a skip. Just wondering in a bottle of Chevron with techron would help? I've cleaned the throttle body, new plugs, no vacuum leaks, clean/new air filter. Thinking maybe the injectors are dirty.

I put 200 K on a 2004 Z71 Suburban with that motor. It spent most of its service driving back and forth to Junction, TX from Houston. The ranch I hunted on was rough as hell. I popped 3 of the dealer tires in a week when it was brand new. Sidewall on two and one tread puncture. Upgraded tires and never a problem after that other than a fuel pump failure. The guy I sold it to took it to Canada for his waterfowl operation. I talked to him about a year ago and it is still running strong. That generation of Chevy's was bulletproof.. except for the wiring harness issues.

I've already checked for air leaks and cleaned the MAF and checked the the spark plug wires when I installed the new plugs. It's probably gonna get traded for a tundra in about a year anyways.

I will tell you these motors have an idle tick that doesn’t affect much else. Does it go away after it’s warmed up? Or all the time?

Unfortunately, that is the truth. Even after a rebuild they end up leaking from the front, rear mains within a short amount of time. Seems like my buddy was replacing those seals once a year.
