My friend is considering buying a 2007 Tundra. She's bringing me with her to look at it tonight. Crew max, black (I know, I gave her shit) and only 73,000kms (45000 miles)...yes, you read that mileage right.

I know the basic stuff to look for when buying a used vehicle. The 2007 has a timing chain so no worries there and I'll be checking out the frame as well. Are there any 2nd gen specific things to look for?

Check the bed for rust in the corners. The 2nd gens had issues with rusting out from the bottom up. I'm going through this issue with mine right now.

Good stuff, thanks guys. The truck checked out and she bought it. Makes me damned tempted to upgrade from my 1st gen now. LOL

The 5.7 has a chain. I believe there were some 2007 models with 4.7s and timing belt.

If it's a JBL model, and the speakers are "blown/rattling" - they probably can be repaired for super cheap. My 2007 had the 2 front speakers blown and the sub was destroyed. There is a company that sells new rings and glue to fix them and they sound great now, all for like $25.
