Pop N Lock: Is Part #00016-34092 and PL8535 the same?

Sorry for the dumb question... But everyone is saying to buy the

$150 PL8535 POP & Lock – Power Tailgate Lock for Toyota Tundra, 2007 to 2021 Toyota Tundra, Truck OEM Lock, Anti Theft, Truck Tailgate Lock Replacement, Easy to Install, Made in The USA (PL8547TUN)

PL8535. I saw a Pop & Lock with the part number 00016-34092, and wanted to know if that was going to work for the power locking tailgate.

Does anyone know?

PL8535 on my 2018 with zero problems

 

I could be wrong, but I believe the Toyota part number 00016-34092 is simply the Pop-N-Lock #PL8535 in a Toyota baggie.

I just looked it up, and I'm right. The Toyota Instruction manual shows pictures of the Pop-N-Lock kit. Here's a link to Sparks and the instructions for the 2018 Tundra. See page 4 of the instructions.

This just looks like a tailgate handle...definitely not a Pop & Lock in normal terms.

I got mine for around $70 by buying "Used - Like New" from Amazon.

 

This is the picture they sent me of the item. It looks like there is a pop and lock in there, right?

 

That definitely looks like the Pop & Lock. That's from the eBay seller? If so, the listing is totally confusing. The picture is of a tailgate handle and the description even talks about re-keying the physical lock which is counter intuitive since we install these for keyless entry into the bed.

So who knows... Worth a gamble, because I had $12 in ebay bucks too, so it brought it down to like $52. I guess we'll see what shows up in the mystery box!

Edit: And I'm not sure what you're saying about the picture of the tailgate handle... I purchased the item, so you might have to scroll down to see the listing. It just shows a picture of a Toyota Logo.

So most likely you are good to go. Great price on a Pop & Lock.

 

Seller didn't have a pic or a correct description of the product for sell, but being lazy they listed it using only the "Pop N Lock" description. Excellent deal and nice catch.
