Damn, thats an expensive set of wheels. You can tell they were pros. Cause they only used two blocks... Lol .That sucks for that person.

Those must of had a locking lug nut, right? At least you would think they would.

My guess, someone with a bmw put in an order for those wheels and had the appropriate lock nut.

My niece woke up two days ago to find her car like this in Maryland. It must be a big business for wheels and tires at the moment.

That's probably why the rotors are all rusty. Insurance trying to find a loophole to get out of paying up.

I wonder how well the locking lugs work, I have wheels with them and I notice the dealer didn't use my key nut (jokes there, too easy) to do the rotation, it's in my tool box and it was locked. They did rotate, I saw them doing it. They obviously had one so if the dealer has it, effin' thieves are going to have them.

This is why I have wheel locks on my vehicles the second I buy a new car. LOL It isn't so much as them stealing it, although it won't be cheap to replace but it's the hassle!

Alarms are useless nowadays, people doesnt pay attention to them going off. Im pretty sure the alarm of that BMW went off when those thieves jacked up the car.

Totally true about alarms. In my younger days.... I grew up with a few ppl that were professionals when it came to breaking into cars. They didnt steal cars, they were stealing credit cars while the cars were unattended somewhere like a park. Long story short, the would set off an alarm 3 or 4 times and that was normal. Ppl didnt care.

Just to emphasize, i didnt break into cars nor did i steal credit cards. But dont leave your wallets/purses in you cars/trucks while you go for a jog in the park.

Wheel lock nuts are the same as pad locks. They keep honest ppl honest. As a deterrent, probably work well, but if someone wants something of yours.... Ya know..

My old Integra i that my good friend bought was stolen twice, rims were taken both times in only a couple months, happened in maryland too! Small world.

I believe BMW uses lug bolts instead of lug nuts and wheel studs.

I just figured maybe they used a half inch Milwaukee battery powered impact and twisted them all off faster that way.

I've got one of those. It's awesome.

My neighbor worked in fleet maintenance for the county and said they use the 1/2" Milwaukee impact to take lug nuts off of busses.

Maybe your wheels would be safe if you used a different style locking lug nut for every stud.:notsure: Although they might just torch your ride out of spite after they figured out what you've done.

I really don't think a locking lug nut would do a whole lot because they make a socket that cuts the lug nuts off. if I was in the business of stealing wheels I would definitely have one of those tools.

Good thing about the tundra I’ve noticed is I’ve used the power drill to tighten bolts a few times and if the car is locked the alarm goes off every time.

That happened to a coworker of mine long ago. He used his first few paychecks to buy a car, a month later showed up on some really tacky chrome wheels. About 2 months later I'm dropping my van off at the shop and a pair of scruffy dudes were there asking for him. Next day his car was found on 4 spare wheels.

It takes less than 2min for a crew of 5 (1 per wheel and a get away driver) use your own landscaping bricks under the axles, let the air out of the tires, freeze the lugs with nitrogen, ping them off with a hammer and be gone with your wheels. This description from our local constable.
