2011 air suspension

Hello everyone I'm a new tundra owner. I bought a 2011 tundra with about 107k miles on it. The guy I bought it from claimed it had air suspension on it installed from the factory. He stated that if I hooked up a trailer and the back sagged to a certain point a compressor would kick on and raise the back of the truck back up level.

I have been under the truck and it does have the airbags and compressor but I've never seen it come on and I have hauled some major loads where the back sagged bad.

So my question is where do I need to start to try to get this feature working?

I have checked fuse boxes but cant seem to find a fuse description that would seem to match what I'm looking for.

 

It is definately aftermarket, not a factory option. I would look for a switch installed somewhere on dash or trace the wires from point a to b.

 

Ok I have a wire jammed up under a relay under the hood with a 15 amp fuse in it. The fuse is good but I may have a bad connection somewhere. Thanks for the help

If the system is weight sensing you should have some type of height sensor or height sensing switch to actuate the solenoid. Do you see some type of sensor attached to the rear frame with a linkage to the axle? I would also start by looking under under the truck and trace the airlines from the air springs, they should lead to a solenoid. Then trace the wiring from the solenoid. Hopefully this will help you figure out is the system is laid out. The relay should have a control side and output side. If you have a voltmeter you may need to do a little electrical diag.

I have a multimeter and trouble shooting it that way should be no problem at all. I really wanted to know if it was factory or aftermarket so I knew kinda what I was getting into.

 

If there are no airbags on your rear axle then someone removed it. Or he lied.

 

There are airbags there and the compressor is there. I've just never seen it work

 

Ok so I got an update and a few more questions. First of all I tracked the wire back to the fuse box under the hood and it was pulling power from a leg of a relay marked “back p/w no.1” what is that relay controlling and when would it come on?

Secondly the wiring under the truck goes to a compressor and some sore of control box I’m thinking a regulator maybe. Anyway the only writing I can find on any of it say “made by mix” and the witing on the wires says wireless harness.

Any help would be appreciated

 

Also I could not find a limit switch that would turn it on or off any ideas where to look? I looked all around the shocks and leaf springs

Ok I will. Just something I didn’t mention is that there are no wires going out to any switch that I can find. And I can’t find the switch to save my life.

I would replumb and protect all the wires, hoses, connectors.

 

Holy cow, the compressor is zip tied to the frame. You could just run new air lines and manual fill, cheap and easy.

Edit: Sorry not frame, bed reinforcement.

 

I thought about running a toggle switch into the cab and using it to pump it up but I'm worried it will over fill

 

I would put 12 volts to that compressor and see if it even works.

Better yet, start the truck and check to see if there is 12 volts going to the compressor.

 

Looks like the firestone ride rite wireless control kit. Definitely firestone bags and brackets. Look up the install instructions and figure out how the previous owner installed the system

So it looks like the ride rite has a remote not a switch is that correct
