This will be a very picture heavy and slow build. I want to try and keep this a slow build and enjoy every stage of it till I feel it's done. Which will probably be never. I'm planning to keep this truck to at least 200k or till I total it. There might also be parts of the Tacoma's life here and there also. So here it is my next truck.
3/8/2016 Picked her up 2016 double cab Limited TRD Premium Package
Had a Tacoma and a few trucks before that. Hit 215 on the last one before I knew it was time to move on. That was a great truck and I hope this one can do half as much as the last one.

3/9/2016 First tow truck took it like a champ. The trailer on the other hand was not having it. At the time this trailer was biggest I wanted to go with the Tacoma. Trailers not more than a few months old and I'm already thinking I might need a bigger one. But this trailer has a pretty good story behind it, I went down to Iowa to pick the trailer up and my cotter pin fell out some how causing the shank to come out and then sparks went flying. Luckily it was about 1 am and no one was on the road and there was a snow storm which didn't help. I had a friend with me and they had an asthma attack and my little inverter burnt out on me right there, so I called for an ambulance and some of the sheriffs deputies showed up. They were nice enough to give me a cotter pin. Thank you Jackson County Sheiriff's Department. That was one hell of a trip but we made it. And with my luck the next morning I couldn't get my Tacoma"s drivers side parking brake to release. Moral of the story is carry an extra cotter pin and check the weather.

3/10/2016 First thing I did before letting anyone in was some rubber floor mats and seat covers and scotch guard.

Another must was getting some Linex done. My Tacoma was on it's second bed. I didn't want to do the same thing with this one.

They finally met. The Tacoma was at a full service car wash for 3 days.

3/12/2016 Threw in a light bar I had in garage. Wired to my high beams for now. Should hold me out till I get time to do a proper retrofit and get some better light bars in.

Also put some pods in for the fogs. I'm still waiting for my rigid brackets to come in so I just threw em in the stock housing for now. Also I painted the reflectors black just to see how it looks.

A car pulled out right in front of me. No contact but it did flip my drink over. Gotta say the cup holders clean up easily.

3/25/2016 Here it is for now. I'm planning to bring here up a few inches and change out things here and there. As it moves on. Broke 3000 miles today also. Been a great truck so far and hope she stays the same way another 100 thousand from now.

3/28/16- Threw in a Genssi 40 Rain did not help. They're still hooked up to the high beams for a switch. I'm still trying to decide where I'd like to cut a hole for a switch bay. Also I'm not sure where to put the blue sea fuse box The Tacoma had some room near the battery this one not so much.

3/31/16- Tried giving the truck a lean with some unbalanced trailer weight. Still felt like nothing was there.

4/2/16-Got my Hella Supertones today put em in but didn't have time to wire them to the relay so I connected them to the stock wiring and they sound weak. When I get a chance to I'll throw in a relay. On the next picture if look close enough you can see two of my goons. Still considering a dump trailer as I'm getting sick of the doors and wasting time unloading.

Wow, great thread. I thought you were going to take it slow lol! You've done more to yours than I have done to my 2011 and I just rolled 105,000 miles yesterday.

And don't worry, mine drives and handles just as good today as when it was brand new. And still handles a trailer like a kid dragging a piece of toilet paper on his shoe.

Little update to what has been molested on the truck.
    2016 5.7 4x4 limited Double cab

This is my work truck and my daily. This truck does not stop more than 12 hours at a time. She just keeps rolling. This has been an awesome truck.

Painted mirror caps, Bullet Antenna, Nfab style running boards actually a china special they were pretty cheap so if they rust out I could care less.

Platinum grill center painted semi gloss black Toyota emblem painted matte black. I can't decide what grill I want to get yet so I painted this black for now. It's held up pretty well to the abuse.

SSO Hybrid bumper with a Smitty built x20 10k synthetic winch and a 30 inch light bar. That winch has been very handy this winter. and the SSO bumper is awesome very good quality.

Badges plastidipped, I tried plastidip on different parts of the truck with my driving it tends to tear about 6 months in. I tried the bumper ends and the grill but I ended up just painting them instead. You can see in this picture my grill was starting to peel.

    Bilstein 6112s and 5160s
The front drivers side one started leaking on me recently they have around 87k on them.
The rear 5160s both leak. The truck rides like shit but it's a truck who cares.
    Firestone Air bags
    Daystar Cradles
    1.5 inch lift shackle
Soon I will add an add a leaf in the back just bring it back up.

Method double standards, I've always wanted these wheels. But one problem with driving in deep snow is, they pack full and shake the truck hard if I forget to clean them out before I hit the highway. But they look good and they match the trailer.
BFG KO2s I'm on my second set of them on this truck about 58k on them I think I might step up to 295/70r18s next. Most likely the Cooper ST Maxx.

    Bedslide S
I regret buying the bedslide, it takes up to much room for my setup and I keep getting shovels or levels stuck behind it. I'm sure it's good for grocery getters but It just doesn't work for me. It's a good product, built well, it is rusting but I am in Minnesnowta. Just not for me. I'm not taking it out though I bought it now I'm stuck with it lol.

I've got 2 40 inch china light bars in the grill. One 30 inch in the SSO Hybrid Bumper that one is alot brighter than the 2 40s. I originally had one 40 in the stock valence location before I put the SSO bumper in.

Rigid pods, I've got through 6 different sets of pods as fog lights on my truck over 185 thousand miles and the rigid has held up the longest and is the brightest. Today I noticed one rigid had some condensation in it.

For headlights I picked up these china special black bezel headlights. Their clear coat is peeling and they look like shit. I'm also sick of changing HID bulbs every 25 thousand miles. Currently running 55 watt philips Hids.

There's 2 led tailgate strips on the truck one underneath for a glow and one on the tailgate. The one on the tailgate usually lasts 9 months then burns out from a ratchet strap or something getting stuck between the tailgate and the box. Also I put an amber marker light on the side of the tool box and one on the rear that is red.

2 7 inch light bars on the toolbox lid
6 7 inch pods under the bumper and 2 regular pods under there Also.
These 7 inch pods suck they burn out they fill with water but they are cheap I buy them in bulk because I'm always ripping them off my bumper. If anyone buys this style of light make sure to seal them, I flex sealed the whole light on all of the lights under my bumper, they just can't take the beating of being under my bumper through all of this shitty weather we get out here.
One thing I don't have pictures of is my audio system, I changed out all the door speakers for CTX speakers and added an 8 inch skar audio subwoofer under the rear drivers side seat front firing. Also my CB radio is a Cobra LX29.

I put in a relay and fuse box system together for all of my lights. It's been in there for almost 140k now. It's been really nice ot just hook up whatever lights I mount quickly without having to put random switches and relays all over the truck. This makes it alot cleaner. Next time I'll go with a switchpros.

Linex, this has held up really well in the past 185k still looks new and cleans up nice. I kinda forgot what my bed looks like empty......
Also bedlights those were ripped off they never last long back there usually break them or tear a wire.
Most recent mod was a roll n lock bed cover. I originally had a soft roll up but it was not secure at all. I cut down the roll n lock to work with my tool box.

A few pics from the past 3 years. A few of the interesting loads I've pulled with the good old truck. She's done great towing I tow 3 to 5 days out of the week. Shit MPGS buts it's a truck it's supposed to guzzle gas and haul ass. With the dump trailer on bad days I get 6.7mpg on good days 10mpgs. with the flat bed 11.7. I average 14 to 15.5 not towing if I drive like an old lady.

If you made it this far here is the section of all of the shit that has been replaced or repaired lol.
    1 Alternator
    1 blower motor
    1 radiator

    -------Before 125k warranty was up^
    1 hood bulge
    1 back window

    1 windshield
    1 rear bumper end
1 rear wheel bearing and axle seal this one was repair multiple times by the stealership. I don't tow so idk what happened.
1 main seal this is a slow drip very slow drip not a big deal
Current isssue I'm dealing with is my taillights don't have power so I'm lead to believe my harness is damaged somewhere down the line or the ground is bad.

One complaint I have is the factory trailer brake controller sucks I replaced it with a P3.
Also the silver paint on my steering wheel is wearing away and so is the leather on my steering wheel but my leather seats have held up well to the abuse.

I don't blame anyone but myself and the way I use this truck for any of the following occurring above. This truck has been through alot and it has been reliable every mile even when its having a problem it gets me home. I'm sure this truck was hoping for a better life but it ended up in my hands. I bought this truck to use it and that's what I'm doing. It's not perfect but she gets the job done I'm hoping Toyota comes out with a heavy half ton or anything bigger next year if they don't I'm gonna have to buy a domestic next year. I'm hoping to get this truck to somewhere between 250 to 300k before I part ways with it.

Front liner pulled rear mud flap pulled for now.
About 1/4 inch from the body mount I can still fully tuck with no rubbing. But it's close.
5k on the tires so far.
Here's what I've concluded so far.

    -snow
Bfg ko2s did better. These are a bit more squirrelly.
They're not great on ice. They can do deep snow good. Slush they are ok.
    Snapchat-534859094_zps9b6wmlcz_c220202472cfc4d5b9c91aed79a842bf14b80dfb.jpg
-mud they do great in mud and dirt roads just as good as the bfgs some what better I'd say.
    Screenshot_20190402-202636_zpswbpyshpe_fde35dd18988f4b72ae70f7501e9745c5c3d341b.jpg
-pavement they do fine it's a tire can't do bad on dry pavement with these. They're a little louder than bfgs. But not as loud as worn out bfgs.
    20190312_200542_zpsmsecmvcc_855ec05934c1209565b75f9e3b2f54c7edd4ee31.jpg

-wet pavement I don't trust them yet to drive to crazy on wet pavement. They do fine I don't slide or anything. I just don't trust them like I did with the bfgs.
    Snapchat-339161132_zpstuaoeyqm_3ac23facc520a5f756f3a99be017a59110ff65f7.jpg
-towing these tires have a higher load rating than the bfgs. Like said before they're a little squirrelly but they do fine nothing I can't deal with. Just not the same firmly planted feeling I got from the bfgs.

    I went from 275/70r18 to 295/70r18
My Speedo is off by around 2 mph give or take it's like 6% off. I can live with that.
Power loss is minor I can deal with it because the truck looks so much better now.
Shifting my shift points aren't horrible a few hard down shifts but I can deal with it.
The ride is so much better than the bfgs not sure why if the side walls are softer or what I'm running the same 65 psi in the back and 50 in the front.

I would do it again. I would not go any bigger with what I do with the truck.
I can live with the coopers I'd say after the 2 sets of ko2s on this truck and my long use of bfgs of other trucks I'd stick with bfgs if I could but these are not bad tires. We'll see how long these tires last. My ko2s had minor dry rot on the side walls after a 76k on them and being only a year old.
Next mod is retrofits I've started working on.

I've been enjoying my ST Maxx 295s. Sidewalls are a bit stiff with the ArmorTek3 but a plus in rocky terrain. Mine are wearing even quite nicely at 18 months and no dry rot. They do quite well in wet conditions. Hydroplaning a non issue at least for me. How do those Hellas' sound? I've got those on my Amazon "list".

Thanks, I'll only run dewalt. I've beat the shit out of all of my 20v line and they're still running strong. I have burnt out 2 20v sawzalls but that was user error lol. I like 12amp battery dewalt just came out with it's heavy as hell but it never dies. Oh and the cordless nailers are awesome. I put these tools through some very extreme conditionsand they just keep going. I got a dcf885 impact smoking once taking off leaf spring bolts and it still runs fine lol.

I was driving through some pretty jagged rock yesterday I was a little bit worried about the sidewalls. That's really good to hear.

So the hella super tones, they stopped working like a year ago I haven't gotten around to changing them. I think they just coroded from all the salt here. I did have a set on my last truck and they did fine. I did like them when they worked they were great. They sound louder than stock but not crazy loud a different tone for sure people notice it for sure

Re painted my sso bumper, the enamel I sprayed on there lasted from November till around February then the millions of rock chips started rusting or showing chrome. This time it's rust primer, self etching primer, bedliner, undercoating, and enamel paint on top for some gloss. Also realigned the bumper my initial install I did it on my own and miserabley failed at lining it up correctly.

Got the retrofit done. It needs some adjustment but over all I'm pretty impressed with the light output. I did make a mistake and not put in a resistor. For some reason I assumed it wasn't needed. So I'm rocking some hyper flash till resistors come in.

My rigid dually fog light was full of condensation and finally burnt out on me. I'm pretty disappointed with it they didn't even last a year.

I also threw on those vinyl inlays for the 5.7 badge. Next thing might be peeling off the trd off-road decal on the bed.

Thanks, I mounted the cb on the passenger side of the center console. I didn't find any other place to mount it where I could adjust it without it being in the way.

I ran the coax under the passenger seat and out the back window. I was not going to drill to run a coax like some guys I know that drill huge holes in the backs of their cabs to run their cables. I mounted the anntena on the side of my crossover tool box. I've tried multiple anntenas but anything over 2.5 feet tends to hit parking garage ceilings. Currently I'm running a short white anntena my buddy gave me since he couldn't hear me clearly with my busted up fire stick.

this is an awesome thread Bob! That's what it's all about. I bought a truck, I use it as a truck, this is what it's been through, this is what I've replaced, 3 years later nonetheless. Great post, this is one of the reasons I'm on this site

Put in a 38" rigid sr series light bar. Thanks to that thread that pointed out a bunch of rigid leds being on sale.
This light bar is alot brighter than the previous 40 I had in there.
I just hit 210k still drives like it did new. I can hear my blower motor making some noise so I'll most likely be replacing that when winter hits.
Also my tailgate shock is going out the tailgate is starting to slam now lol. So I'll be replacing that soon.

    291070 miles.
The heat has been a bit hard on her. A couple days ago the temp gauge started moving up a little but I was towing pretty heavy. Cooled her down been fine since.

The 6112s were a little worn. About 194k miles on them.
Got the fronts installed with spc ucas. I also replaced the sway bar end links. I broke the tac weld holding the nut for the away bar end link on the lca. That was a pita to get out. I never saw myself welding on this truck lol.
I got a little more lift than I previously had. I'd say an inch more. I should of measured before and after.
    Previous I had 6112s at 1.9 3rd setting.
Now. Sure they settled down alot after 190k miles. I believe the elkas are set at 2.5. I'm sure they'll settle a little too. My CV angles look pretty angled now. I might do a diff drop.
