I have to let you guys know that customer service is not dead! I installed a Genesis Offroad dual battery kit a few months ago and yesterday I let my primary battery run dead (accidentally). I sent Genesis Offroad a quick email letting them know that the solenoid would not engage so I could start off the aux battery. This was at 7:00 PM on a Saturday. I had a reply within 10 minutes and they gave me three solutions, the first one worked and did not need to run through the other two. I was shocked that someone replied over the weekend at all, much less at 7:10 on a Saturday evening. If any of you are in the market for a quality dual battery setup I can vouch for this company. Legit customer service and a very solid product. Setup shown below (I went with a pair of Optima Red Tops). For reference, the solenoid needs at least ~9V to engage.

So if the main battery is drawn down too much, then the solenoid that lets you toggle over to the aux battery for an emergency start doesn't work? Do I understand this right?

Just curious what your options were to work around this and get your truck started?

I'm looking at getting the Genesis setup as well and am happy to hear they have good customer service.

Sorry for the delay on this. Yes, once the main battery gets below 9V the solenoid will not engage to allow you to crank from the aux battery. The easiest work around is basically to jump yourself from the aux to the main and get it started. You could of course, although much more time consuming is switch the battery positions or simply connect everything to the aux. I'm not sure how far I drained my main battery when this happened but it was drained enough where I didn't even get the typical clicking noise associated with a drained starting battery. I have subsequently ran the main down to that point (clicking) and can say the solenoid engaged and it started right up but there is a critical sweet spot when you have drained it too much and then have to resort to one of the above work arounds.
