I have a Kuat hitch rack for 4 bikes. Built like a tank. Been super happy with it. Not sure about continued use on the Tundra after the lift goes on so I'll probably pick up a North Shore rack. There's also this guy but he made some public comments on IG that I saw that left a pretty bad impression.

I'm headed out for a ride a little later this afternoon so, I'll snap a pic of the Kuat.

I've got the Yakima bedrock mounts and crossbars with Yakima load warrior basket and Thule carriers. Everything locks in place and when not in use just unlock and lift off the bed and hang it on the wall. I'm not an avid biker just take them with me when we go camping. But this allows me to fit dog crate, totes, coolers, and other gear below while storing dry goods in waterproof zip bag in the basket. Works well and don't have any complaints. Yakima mounts are solid as a rock. Better than stuffing the back seat full of gear and leaves room for seating. The carrier trays over hang the bed slightly on the crewmax when I leave my box in but when it's taken out everything sits inside the tailgate.

Took delivery of my wife’s new 58cm Trek 920 yesterday afternoon. She was reeeeally happy when she got home from work. The KUAT two bike hitch transporter got the job done nicely. The bike will get XPEL.com paint protection today. My 920 arrives mid April.

Gonna hit the railtrails soon! I left the seat plastic cover on so she could unwrap it.;)

I have had two rockymounts installed on the bed rail system on opposite sides and it works great . My new bike isna little wider so had to improvise. 20190407_094652.jpg

I've been a fan of the bed rail fork mount since 2012. Been a great way to carry a few bikes. Toyota sells the Yakima version, but you can buy a few different versions from Rocky Mounts, Thule, etc.Rail Rack.jpg Rail Rack 2.jpg

Got rid of my Thule hitch rack after I realized my friend was the only one using it the past 3 years. I was just the kook that was storing it.

I have a Rocky Mounts rack. I am very happy with it.

It folds up when not in use, and it folds down for quick access to the back of the truck.

But the salient feature, and the main reason I chose this rack over others, is it swings off to the right on a hinge and allows complete access to the tailgate and the camper shell lift window.

I can be a bit unwieldy, but the swing gate is the way to go with a camper shell.

I just mounted the quick releases on my cover bar
I dont have a pic of it but the cross rail makes a great bike rack.

Classic thread resurrection. Anyways, I use the Yakima Holdup Evo hitch rack.

Great if you have carbon framed bikes. You also don't have to remove the front wheel. Easy and convenient.

Here's a new rack that just came out. Kinda cool that one of the first videos is on a Tundra. I never loved the hitch retention ball thing on the 1up racks so this is appealing. My main reservation is how far out it sticks from the truck. If I ever went for 2 additional add-ons, the 4 bike rack would be a LONGGGG way back. It's a long shot, but anyone have this new rack here?

My Yakima HoldUp Evo does basically all of that and I’ve had it for 1.5 years.

How is the ride w/the tailgate down, are you ever worried about rock chips? I have always wanted to carry my bikes this way, but am afraid of damage to the tailgate on long trips

Other than a tailgate pad, the only "hitch" rack I would consider are the 1-up racks and maybe the NorthShore vertical style ones.

I've had 4 different 1up racks over the last decade and think they were the best, but still don't love the ball only retention system. It looks like 1up just responded to the competition of the Saris rack (designed by the inventor of the 1up rack) I posted previously and now they have a slot for a hitch pin as well. For me it's a toss up between those 2 racks for my next purchase.

Installed a new peragon cover and I removed the deck rail system. I can modify the clamps for the cover to fit into then rails but I wanted to see it on the truck first and then modify if need be. I had a little free time yesterday and decided to mount one of the rails. Figured give it a try. Maybe mount the other and put a roof rack on. Couple diffent options. 20190514_090145.jpg 20190514_090719.jpg 20190514_090506.jpg

That's great. Can you give a few more details how you set this up? Looks like the rail is mounted into the stake pockets?

Yep. I had a Extra set of stake pocket mounts. Used them with some 3" all thread 3/8 bolts. Had to drill out on side of the rail system to get the bolt through. I used the rubber spacer to shim up the rail off the bed. If this works I will prob by some better pocket mounts get used some aluminum blocks instead of the rubber spacers. This is just a trial to see if it works. Will fine tune if I think it will work for my needs.

I love it so far. Only been a week and I am currently out of town so won't be able to mess with it for another 2 weeks. The rail mount is just a trial, I still might modify the cover clamps to slide into the bed rail system. If not I plan on mounting another rail on the other side and mount a rack on there similar to this setup. image-1103928041.jpg

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have a diamondback and am looking for a way to get 4 big bikes 12 hours to Maine. I modified a cheap 3 bike hitch carrier, but it’s super wobbly and the kids have gotten bigger bikes.

@smslavin did you ever end up picking up a North shore rack? I have been wanting to get an NS-4 but can't say for certain if it will work with my bedrack. The new pictures they have online of the 2019 version look like the tires would interfere with the bed rack.

I know you have a camper shell so i wanted to check.

And do you run the expedition one dual swing bumper @smslavin? Kind of my latest predicament with probably going with that bumper is where to put the bikes if not draped over the tailgate (as I assume this option goes away with the expedition one)
