Im gonna try to find a source for my question/comment below when i got some free time but, didnt the ceo of gmc get a 22 million dollar bonus for the year of the bailout?

Like i said, ill source thatin a bit but im pretty sure i remember reading that in the paper.

    Edit: source,https://stories.avvo.com/money/5-bailed-out-ceos-still-living-the-high-life.html

    Rick Wagoner, General Moters

"General Motors lost tens of billions of dollars under Rick Wagoner, laid off tens of thousands of employees, and was $54 billion in debt by the time it was bailed out to the tune of $50 billion. As part of the bailout package Wagoner resigned. Although the Treasury Dept. forbade GM to pay Wagoner or any other senior execs severance, he still walked out with a retirement package worth nearly $10 million. While he stayed out of the spotlight for a year after his forced retirement, last summer Wagoner accepted a spot on the board of the Washington Post."

So it wasn't a bonus or 20 million but dang, still did pretty good wwith that retirement package.

I think the CEO of GM got paid $22 million the year of the bailout. That same year they laid off 15,000 workers.

Yeah, i saw that while i was sourcing for my comment above.

That was only a couple years ago i think. Damn, gmc pays the excs pretty nice for shitty work.

I have been a GM person all my life, still love the old square body trucks. I have put 550k and 384k mi on my last 2 GM 3/4 ton trucks with minimal problems, but my last couple of 1/2 GM trucks made me look elsewhere. Thus I'm on my 2nd Tundra. Correct me if I'm wrong but all the 3/4 ton GM trucks are made here in the US and they farm out the 1/2 ton trucks to Mexico. I think that's the problem right there. Toyota parts are made in Japan and shipped here to be assembled, thus bypassing import taxes. I spent 4 years in Japan, I know how they work, and if the job ain't finished they will stay until it's done right, even without pay. I personally think Tundra has the market on the 1/2 ton for reliability so the other 3 concentrate on creature comforts. As for the bigger commercial side, It's a toss up because both Ford and GM make a decent 3/4 and 1 ton truck. The only thing Dodge has going for it is the Cummins, but they surround that diamond in a turd. Now if they were to put that Cummins in a Ford and back it with an Allison from GM? Well...game changer.

Not all of Toyota's money goes back to Japan. As I recall they drop serious coin relocating to Plano TEXAS from the left coast. Just adding my $0.02

As I get wiser (older), it doesn’t bother me what those forums say or do I want to reply to them. It proves nothing, enjoy life, be more productive......wash the dishes.

Imo, the money that counts is what is in the wallets of the employees. Toyota has a respectable amount of american employees.
Im kinda interested how they compare to the big 3.

    Quick google search,
    Workers in the USA
    Toyota-30k
    Ford-85k
    GM-91k
    Dodge-??

I think the better question would be how many jobs do trucks create for American workers for each respective company. How anyone would find that out i have no idea though
