What kind of deal did you get on your topper?

Hey guys, I’m looking to get a topper for my 18 CM limited. We don’t have any snug top dealers in my area and trying to find a used one within a couple hours of Omaha NE seems next to impossible. Today I was quoted at $2700 for an ARE Z series without any extras. What’s everyone else have and what’s the best value out there ?

 

My snugtop XTY was $3100 - pricey but worth it, super impressed.

 

I was looking at a Leer camper top but then saw an 8 month old BackFlip MX4 for sale locally for $450 and jumped on it.

 

Paid $2435 for my Leer 100XR I had on my 2018. That was installed, with carpeted headliner, removable sliding front window, and roof rack tracks (no crossbars).

 

I paid 2100 for leer 100xr, 8', carpet, thule rails, removable sliding front window.

 

Just ordered Are with all the bells and whistles. Yakima rack, led lighting, rear folding and sliding window, automatic remote lock...$3200 installed. Should be here in about 4 weeks

 

Truck outfitters up in Cedar Falls does used ones. American Topper in Des Moines gets them in every now and again. Nothing right now it looks like. I assume your the person in Bellevue with the CL ad asking for a topper. Have you looked at the car lots around to see if you can find one on a truck for sale? Dealer may take 1k for it rather than nothing if they sell the truck...I would assume a topper from 07 on would work.

Anyone know how to order the electronic lock for an ARE Z series without going thru an ARE dealer?

 

Too bad Snugtop dealers are a tough find in your area. I looked at at maybe 5 brands (a couple I never heard of before) at several dealers, and the only ones that I thought would do were ARE and Snugtop. Having owned two Snugtops on previous Toyotas, and looking at the samples at a dealer, I went Snugtop again, the XTRA Vision, with the fold-up front window and pop-lock (inside lock/unlockable) which comes carpeted. Just over 3g. If I had done a Rebel it would have been maybe a grand less. The AREs aint bad, I just was in my comfort zone with Snugtop, and wanted the big sliders with glass windows so coughed up the extra over the Rebel. Good luck in your search.

 

I have a hard topper for a 6.5 foot bed it’s off my 2004 DC. Black. ProTops. Selling for $800. Also selling a softopper for $400.

 

Got this leer for $1000 but had took me a month of searching craigslist and had to drive two hours to get it. It was in perfect shape.

 

today was the last day for my lb to go topperless. Had to get a leer - snugtop does not make one for the lb, It's all white, with the black windows my truck looks like Leon Russell going down the road in shades...

 

Ordered an ARE CX yesterday with Yakima rack, carpet headliner and tilt-down/slider front glass. $2283 out the door.

Where are you located to be able to get a TRD OR double cab with the 8 foot bed? I would kill to have an 8 foot bed again

 

funny you should ask, no need to kill, but I have bought my last 2 Toyotas from My man in Columbus Ohio. We had no, zero fj's with stick in 2014, and we had no 8' beds on the tundra this last 3 months. They don't bring them in, they claim they sit for lon tine..Columbus had 4, done deal. This forum will do you no good after you get an 8' bed though, ha ha. we are workers, not wheelers...

 

Yeah no wheeling here. Just 13' kayaks and always needing more bedspace with my current 5.5' bed.

Yeah that’s my ad, still looking as I’m trying to hold out paying $2500 plus. Found a red one 6hrs away. Going to continue the search. I’ll check American toppers thanks for the heads up.
