I am thinking about going to Memphis with the wife next week. Anyone have any tips. She likes to tour historical places. Tips on places to eat too. Thanks.

Bass pro pyramid is AWESOME!! Beale street, Overton park, downtown, mud island, PLENTY of good BBQ places!

Watch where you drive. Most places are fine during the day, some seem VERY abandoned. Just keep a sharp eye out and if you want to go out at night, get an uber. It's better than having to find a place to park and walking there late at night.

I grew up a couple of hours north of Memphis and spent quite a bit of time there growing up. Law gave you some good spots but make sure you take her to the Peabody Hotel. Don't know if they still parade the ducks in/out of the lobby fountain daily, but even if they don't the hotel is still pretty cool if she likes historical places. One of my favorite BBQ places is Rendezvous ... just around the corner from the Peabody. It's somewhat of a tourist trap but the food is pretty darn good. I recommend you get there early or you'll be standing in line for hours. The Civil Rights Museum is also a must see. Oh yeah, you can't forget about Graceland ... lol.

If you are going to eat bbq while you are here either go to Central BBQ on Central Ave and get the BBQ nachos or go to The Commissary and make sure you get the banana pudding. Loflin Yard is a super cool outdoor place to get a beer and listen to some music. Do Beale Street during the day...trust me. Bass Pro is cool, you do have to pay to go to the top though. Peabody hotel is a must, they still parade the ducks twice a day. As far as historic places go, you can drive around union ave, overton park, rhodes, etc... and see some really old, well kept houses. As far as touring historical places, Graceland would be a good thing to do. Its a little pricey and Elvis Presley Blvd is straight hood, so do it during the peak of the day. That's all i can think of right now...Oh yeah go to the park down by the river. drive down riverside drive and there is a park that runs the length of the road.

Boscoe's is pretty cool off of Madison and Cooper. There's an amphitheater (I think) in Overton square.
Eh, don't listen to her, it's no different than looking where to go online or asking people in a nail salon. LOL

Lafayettes on overton square is your best place to find live music.

Second the Peabody hotel. The duck parade is really sweet. They live up on the roof of the hotel and take the elevator down to the lobby and head out to a big fountain where they spend most of the day. How was your trip?
