As much as I love my Toyotas I would go ZR2 in the midsize with the V6.

Had a 3rd gen Tacoma before my tundra. Have driven the ranger and the ZR2 diesel and would still pick the Tacoma over those 2. Ridgeline and frontier aren't even in the same realm. As far as the gladiator I want to try one before I get an opinion of that.

Tacoma manual transmission. Because it’s still a Toyota. Second would either be the jeep or Colorado.

I’d go with the Tacoma. If you’re looking for a solid, reliable, and battle tested midsize pickup truck, then the Tacoma is one. They hold their value and will guarantee you several hundred thousand miles on their drivetrains.

I know that the Tacomas aren’t the prettiest and most up to date from a technological standpoint. But, you can rest assured that the Tacoma will do exactly what you want it to do. And it will deliver unstoppable service for a very long time to come. Besides, all them other competitors with their fancy fluff, are like dressing up a pig with all the bells and whistles, but no matter what, it’s still a pig. After all the dust and smoke clears, you’re still going have a pig. :)

@15whtrd trades his Tundra in for a Ranger and then picks every other midsize in this thread. The guy cannot be trusted.

Tacoma with manual transmission because of my top 3 priorities: reliability, reliabilty, reliabilty.

Second would be the GMC Canyon with the baby Duramax because fuck Ford and meh to Chrysler.

Nissan and Honda arent even on my truck radar.

I would go tacoma for reliability reasons, it’s off-road ready and I really don’t care about a front locker like people say the Colorado has an advantage over. It’s already got a rear locker, driver skills make up the rest. Second vehicle choice would be the Lexus GX 460(used) it’s pretty much a baby landcruiser which is known for off-road and dependability or the fj cruiser which it’s size is a good choice for trails depending on where you’re going.

Taco all the way. The Ranger has a nifty E locker but still a Ford. Canyon/Colorado....hell f***ing no. Gladiator........don't care for anything made by Fiat. Frontier/Ridgeline....nope.

Depends on what your use is..

    Commuting or off-road- Tacoma

Towing/ Hauling- Colorado (Tacoma is not a happy truck doing wither of these and Colorado has a factory brake controller)

Cheap price- Frontier, I have seen some pretty good deals on these trucks and its an older platform so should be pretty trouble free.

I haven't driven a gladiator so I cannot really comment on it, but probably will give the Tacoma a run for its money off-road I would guess.

Taco for now, but I loved my Wrangler, and would be willing to give the Gladiator a shot after a couple years when the bugs are worked out and the aftermarket catches up

Maybe a Tacoma with a manual transmission, as the 6 speed in the current Taco is arguably one of the worst transmissions ever made. The manual might make that torque-less engine a bit more bearable. Honestly none of those choices are all that appealing. Runner up would probably be the Ridgeline.

Duh! If search high and low for a low mileage, no rust 1st gen Tundra. Similar in size to these, V8 power, and no weird stuttering transmissions like the latest Tacoma that can't just drive for worrying about which gear to be in for gas mileage....

If my needs got smaller and I would only need a midsize truck it would be a tough choice between the Jeep Gladiator and the Tacoma. If the Tacoma still had the 4.0 in it then Tacoma without a doubt.
