Yes, you could still have issues. Form in place gaskets have a definite time window for proper installation, and they are susceptible to material variability issues. Excessive voids in the material, material quality, or inadequate application of the material can cause problems. A hard gasket, compliant gasket, a grooved o-ring type design, or pretty much ANY other type of seal design (except maybe just direct metal to metal contact with no seal whatsoever) would be superior to this.

Went in today. Was told to make an appointment to have it diagnosed. I know the SM, so asked to see him. He had my truck sent to the service bay to look at it. Young man comes out to tell me that he can find no leak. He lets me come back there to show him. The Master tech was tied up on another vehicle at the time. Showed the young man the problem and he went to tell the SM. After a few minutes he told me it was covered under warranty and they were ordering the parts. Before I left the SM said that Toyota only covered the side that was leaking (Drivers side). We both agreed that was a Bad idea given the scope of the work. He said he would Request that the customer wanted Both sides done...... we will see what they say. What would be my next move if they only approve the Leaking siade be repaired?

I took mine too corporate and they wouldn't approve both sides. Only the leaking side was approved for warranty. After pursuing it for a week I gave up and just let them repair the leaking side. Good luck to you.

Is there some years or generations more prone to leakage or just the 5.7?

It seems to be among all years with the 5.7L and 4.6L.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but as I just purchased a 2010 with 60k on it i gotta ask, has there been any history of enginw failures due to this leak?

The truck was immaculate when I picked it up. I haven't noticed a single drop or stain on any engine component. But, general consensus seems to be it will happen (if it hasnt happened already).

Just wondering how long to pay attention to the manifolds and what constitutes worry vs an unfortunate design flaw that will barely loose enough oil to notice
