    Hi All,

Am considering one of the bins offered by Diamondback. The 13” is only $20 more but it obviously holds much more than the 8”. Even so, I’m concerned with two things about it:

    1) Space available to store items in the front of the bed and underneath the bin, and;

    2) Ease or added difficulty in removing the bin when needed compared to the 8”.

Those of you who have one or the other, could you share your experiences? Those with the 8” wish they would’ve gone with the bigger 13”? Those with the 13” have trouble fitting items underneath it or find it much more difficult to remove?

I don't have them but I have been getting ready to order one. I guess it comes down to what you are going to keep in the bin and how big of an item you want to have under the bin...

I have the 8” and am pretty satisfied with it. I keep tools, hitch and sunshade im there. I’m able to reach in there without issues. There isn’t too much storage below the 8”, fortunately I haven’t had to take it out. If I had the 13”, I would have been SOL a few times to secure things in and not on the bed.

    Hopefully the pictures help.

Great pictures. I’ve already taken a measuring tape to try and figure it out, but the pictures sure put it all into perspective. Thanks!

Not sure how I missed this. I have the 8” and love it. It holds a lot and is super sturdy. Only draw back is it is a pain to remove and install alone - so I don’t!

RCI front, transmission/diff, and gas tank skids received, waiting for spring install. Compustar remote starter. front/rear dash cam.
I have the 13” in a DC, and I have plenty of room for hauling things. I tend to carry more gear than I realistically need, but I like to be prepared. Taking the bin out is easy once the cover is removed, but it does require removing most of the contents. A second pair of hands make it easier. I am very happy with the purchase.

My 8" finally arrived. Install was fairly easy, but I've read how a few were kind of a tight fit. Luckily, mine fit just right. I found it easier to first lay it in at an angle, and then get underneath it while laying in the bed on my back and "bench pressing" it into place. Works just as well when removing it.

I have the 13. Install is the same as 8, just drop in. I love the room of the 13 and would never go with the 8 because I can easily throw backpacks in there with all sorts of other stuff. 8 just wouldn't give the flexibility I want.

Adequate room for me. I need the bed space underneath it, though. Otherwise the 13" would've been my preference .

Can someone who has the 8 inch tell me what the overall height is? I'm confused on what the "8 inch" refers too. Is it the overall height or the actual bin height.

I have the 8 inch bin and it's just right for me since I have items that need to fit under it. Also, it would be more difficult for me to reach items toward the middle of the bin if it were deeper.

The bin is solid and it's a snug fit; however, I also added a T-nut to each side to engage the rail and prevent it from moving.

Has anyone considered the BakBox? I bought that a week after I bought my truck. The thing I like the most is when you need the space in the bed, just empty is and fold it up out of the way

Thanks for the pics I'm looking to pic up the SE with an 8" bin. I'm pretty short and doubt I'd be able to reach into the 13" one....
Can someone post up how much clearance the 8" has from the arm mechanism? Or is it even an issue? I see in the pics there is soft suitcase which comes above the bin...

The arm mechanism doesn’t interfere with it at all.

Do the cross bins utilize the rail system in the bed or sit on top of the sides? Also, anyone with the 13in how much room between the bed and the bottom of the cross bin... Thanks!

I don’t have a rail system. My 8” sits on top of the plastic bedside caps.

I’ve filled mine with enough stuff that there’s no room for any of it to move around and rattle.

    Gonna revive this thread.

Could those of you with the bins give the measurements from the bed to the bottom of the bin both on the 13" and 8". Just want to know how much space is available underneath each. thanks
