Made these cabinets from repurposed wood pieces.
The small amp head and speaker cabinet are made from an old 50's stereo console grill cloth and all, the stereo amplifier was converted to a guitar amp and the larger combo amp cabinet was made from 100 year old cherry table extension leafs.

What is the best source for Whiteside bits?
BTW, I’m also looking at the Shapeoko XXL. It’s a tough choice.

I order mine through Amazon or Toolstoday.com. I have heard good things about the Shapeoko but I dont have any experience with it. Only the Xcarve.

Started making myself a decent rolling work table. I plan to insert my portable table saw into the left side and use the bench as an out feed table.
The miter saw can be flipped over to create a fully flat surface. Still need to put a bottom on it and some shelves underneath to hold tools and crap. I will also make a cyclone style dust collection bucket that will go under the miter saw with a hose running up to it and hook to my shop vac. Nice little project for under $100.

I am very fortunate that I am able to have separate benches for everything. But.... I don't know if im going to have that luxury at the next place.

all my saws are on wheels and at the same level. Many roll into the open space between my work benches.
Here in Fl I no longer have two wood shops, just a garage but the open-ended work bench is built at the same level as my saws.
since it is almost always nice here I just roll my saws and cutters out on the driveway. The table saw works as an extension for the chop saw and vise versa. My yard blower blows them clean before I return them to the garage.
Heck my tundra will not fit in the garage anyway.

One more step done. Bottom and shelves are next then maybe I'll start using the saws to do something.

the fender looks almost classic but the vintage statement at the jacks indicates a solid state newer amp.
    Tubes or not?

Wow, I learned something new/old. so Fender and i assume other amps as well brought tubes back.
Solid state just did not have the sound that the old tube Fenders produced.

Although tube amps are are still alive and rock'n, especially with geezers like me, solid state is still strong and modeling amps are most likely the way of the future.
It's really quite amazing the tone that you can achieve with amp simulators.
But for me, the true analog warm tube sound can't be beat!

Been working on my turning lately. This month: lidded boxes. they’re simple to make but don’t mind saying mine have a long way to go. posting a sample here. some of the issues i’m having: getting the lids to fit tightly on the first try, selecting better stock to work with (red oak not doing it for me), parting off both top and bottom more cleanly... and the list goes on. Wanting to give a bunch of these as C-mas gifts in 2019 so gotta get these looking way better. Suggestions and resources welcomed:

Still spending a lot of time turning. Some bowls better than others but really enjoy it so that’s all that matters to me:

That's really cool man. It's a dying art. To me there is nothing as cool as crafting something with your hands like that. Keep up the good work

Scrap piece of Walnut is now a crayon holder. My 2 yr old seems to approve (but not impressed). Walnut is so great to work with.

Man that's so cool. Seems like a lost art. I remember my grandpa turning bowls and various items. He loved woodworking and I remember even as a young kid, just sitting and watching. He made this combo lock that actually works. Lots of other items too, o took some when he passed away and will always cherish them.

Thanks! I love this lock. I also have one with a wooden key that functions. I have a few other items I will try to find and post. He was very tedious and loved doing intricate projects.

On topic, last handful of years ive been gravitating towards more of the craftsmen type of personal projects. With all the hurricanes and floods in my area we dont get as many creative remodeling jobs. So i dont have any cool pics atm.

But heres my mallet and saw made!

My Shapeoko XXL arrived yesterday! I can't wait to get it set up but it will end up being a while because I have to build a bed for one of my grandsons first.

I make the odd piece. I've made our entertainment unit, our bathroom vanity, some outdoor furniture. Usually because the store stuff is crap and I prefer solid wood.

For the past few years I've made natural wood slingshots from raw tree forks. Don't sell them, but have given away many on a slingshot forum and traded a few. All are handmade, mostly using hand tools, but do resort to the odd one needing help from a spindle sander.

I'm a decent shot, don't hunt. Can hit the head off a match from 10m on a good day.

Started making hobo/hand line fishing reels now too...because slingshots aren't childish enough.

Excellent work ! You've taken the slingshot to a whole new level.
I had a lot of fun with my slingshot as a kid but never had ball bearings for ammunition ~ only the rocks we found along the trail.
My compadre enjoyed fooling around in his mini-machine shop. Late in life he switched from working with metal to working with wood.

He made this screwdriver 'for show' and gave it to me. The brass is a bit tarnished now but it's something I'll always treasure.

Check out this video on a fellow that's a slingshot virtuoso !
