It’s been below freezing in the mornings here and the garage doesn’t feel that bad. Temp shows it’s like 40-45 in it. The walls are supposed to be insulated.

We are used to the heat from Texas so I’m sure it gets hot here with a desert like climate but not having the humidity will be wonderful! Haha

With the weather you get there in Idaho you will appreciate having a clear windshield to leave home with. We had a garage in Conifer, Colorado which is at 8,100 ft. elevation, it was great not having to deal with a frosted windshield when heading for work. The neighbors that used to live on our west side moved to the Moscow area of Idaho, they live at about 2,500 and get about 2' of snow which is far more than we get here in S. W. Oregon where our elevation is just below 1,500 ft., about all we'll ever have is a metal shelter for our vehicles, if I can get around to putting one together. Your garage is a thing of wonder, good for you.

Being from Michigan and dealing with the snow, finally having a garage(big enough) again for the truck to be out of the weather will be great!

I've been scoping out places around Cascade, Idaho on-line. How is that area swow-wise? I live in South Texas now. Looking for somewhere to go when the wife retires.

That’s a really nice area. My wife’s family is from Challis area, and they only get like 20” of snowfall.

You would get a reasonable amount of snowfall in Cascade, most likely over 100” per year. Rainfall is pretty good too.

To put in perspective, where I live off the Palmer Divide in Colorado, we average 100+” of snowfall per year.

Vail Ski resort gets an average of 108” per year. :eek2:

Thank you sir. I have been looking all over and, for the money, it seems right. Some really nice places for under a mil. I am going to drive up there and look later this year. Only thing that bothers me is fires. Been thru plenty of hurricanes... fires are a whole different ballgame!

    Fire mitigation is key.

I have been through some serious fires, and I can tell you one thing:

The people that have a defensible space win.

Sad to say this, but were I currently life was the most destructive fire in Colorado history. I live next to a Fire Dept Lieutenant that lost his house. Have to practice what you preach...so to speak.

We drove up through Cascade a couple weeks ago heading to McCall and it was beautiful! We are also tossing around the idea of snagging up some property there for a getaway. It’s only around 1.5hrs from us which is nice and the landscape there is amazing.
