Too cool. 'bout the only thing I have left from my career is my draft packet, and a baseball my dad kept and recorded one season's stats all over. Everything else seems to have gotten lost in one of the moves.

That's a bummer. My dad, unknowingly to me, kept a scrap book from freshman year of HS till college. It was a really cool gift. I have a ton of baseballs from game balls I won and homerun balls. Fun to look back on the memories. I never got close to drafted. Lue Panella told me to keep at it though lol. I was a Jamie Moyer style thrower. Never over powering with an 88 mph fastball, but I could bend it behind a tree for a strike.

Ha that's awesome. Same deal with this ball. I found it in his stuff after he passed. Yeah, talk about a punch in the throat when that thing rolled out of a box...

I was NEVER good. But I was/am 6'9" with a whip for an arm, and could throw the cover off the ball. I threw a CG no hitter once, and lost. 14 walks. I also was pulled from a game once because the oppo manager begged mine, saying he couldn't afford to lose another player and still field a team. And on and on... true stories. I was definitely one of those "maybe we can teach him to throw strikes" projects.

Getting drafted was one hell of a thing though. Totally shocked me and the family. Was still in high school. Was actually out washing my car when my mom called me inside to take the call. Wish every player with big league dreams could share that experience, no matter the outcome.

Yuuuuuuup! That was me to a tee. It did help that I had a 12to6 curve that could drop off a table about 3 feet from the plate. My catchers didn't like calling it, for obvious reasons, but sometimes its the only thing that could sniff the zone!

Thanks about my dad. He was my best friend and I miss him everyday. This thread has me wishing I could call him up and reminisce over some stories of those days.

All good though. He'd have been dreading this Giants season as much as I am :D

Bring your wife to NY, I'll get you tickets from my brother in law. He has season tickets on the first base line about 30 rows back.

Love it that baseball is back! And my Phillies will be back in the mix again. We’re expecting big things from them and the $330M man. I’m so glad they signed Harper instead of Machado. Harper’s got that tough nosed attitude towards the game that will endear him to the Philadelphia fan base. Much like Utley had. 99068D5F-5C90-46C7-8B7B-AC4B409C77F5.jpg

Another home opener spoiled for the Rockies. A few coworkers went. Spent $70 to park across the street from Coors Field. Should have stayed at work and saved the parking $ for Coors... heh...heh.. :crapstorm:
