    And after. (X2 Power Northstar)

The battery I replaced appeared to be the factory original. I figured that after six years I was pushing my luck on either a cold winter start, or a hot weather failure.

One thing I learned about East Penn/Deka making batteries for others:

"The battery of choice at O’Reilly Auto Parts, and CSK Auto stores is a Super Start Battery. Super Start batteries are manufactured by East Penn Manufacturing. East Penn is well know for their Dependable Deka battery brand. East Penn manufacturing is located in Lyon Station Pennsylvania, and have been manufacturing batteries sense 1946. The Super Start Premium battery has a 12 month free replacement and a 60 month pro rate warranty. The Super Start Extreme battery offers 3 year free replacement and 84 month pro-rate warranty. The Super Start Premium battery warranty is nothing to get excited about, however the Super Start Extreme is a very industry competitive battery warranty."

I do have the SuperStart battery aforementioned, from AutoZone. One thing I learned from somebody who used to work in that side of the parts bis is this...when it comes to 24, 36, etc mo rated batteries- more often than not (but not always) when you opt for a longer-term celll, its' not so much that you're buying a better battery inasmuch as you are buying a better Insurance Policy err, Warranty for it; even though the cases may look different, oftentimes they are the same internally. This is not a 100% across the board fact, and there are exceptions. The Bosch battery took a dump in our Passat and we replaced it with a Super Start. So far, so good....

    Stock is so temporary
I can't see waiting for a stock battery to fail to replace it. Under warranty or not. My battery is only 200 miles old. Probably wait until the three year mark to change it out. The heat here kills batteries.
    I won’t wait for a failure ...

Bought my '14 CM a couple of months ago. Replacing the original OEM battery (with another OEM) was the first thing I did.

 or use the stock battery holder as its not far off from a 27r and add longer aftermarket posts such as the audio clamps mentioned elsewhere in this post so stock wires can be left alone?

My OEM battery lasted 5yrs. I was originally going to get an optima, but it seems they aren’t what they use to be.
Went with a Duracell from Battery+ store. Has been fine this winter.

Just bought a used 15 recently. Probably replacing the battery. No clue on how on old it is. Looks original. Have had good luck with interstates.

Still running the original OEM battery as far as I can tell. 14 years old, still fires the truck up in -40C weather. LOL.

I'll be replacing it this spring with an Odyssey AGM.

It is, and you should try heaving it over the radiator support without mashing a finger. :muscleflexing:

Indeed! I may even have to readjust my driver's headlamp aim after setting that thing in there. Weighty.

I went Diehard AGM Gold, previously had AGM Platinum but they didn't seem to have that model anymore so I went with Gold.

Proactively replaced the OEM battery in Nov 2018 with Autocraft AGM from Advance Auto...

DEFINITELY replace an OEM with an AGM.
    Worth the extra coin.

    Lost track after #1.
Mine just went out literally the day after the two year warranty expired. Decided to bail on the prorated trade-in though and go with a Duracell Gold. $139 w/3 year warranty.

So far so good! Picked it up at Sam's Club...they have an excellent warranty replacement if a person needs to exercise it. AGM is THE way to go!

What terminal attachments do you have there? They look really handy for easily adding lightbars.
