I would wait till after the trip to do the mods. Are you trying to get 500 miles between fill ups for time? A lift and bigger tires will hurt your mpg a little and, as you said, it’s cheaper to get it done in the lowers. Sounds like a sweet trip. Post some pics from time to time. We are planning a big one in April. Just got a rtt.

That looks like a good setup! Any particular reason you chose CVT over the other brands?

The 500 miles was just what I used driving up here for planning purposes on the route and was helpful at times when gas stations weren't open that should have been and there were some decent stretches between civilization.

After doing a bunch of research, we narrowed it down between cvt and tepui. We found a cvt dealer close to us and were able to see them and set them up. We also didn’t have to pay for shipping since it was there. It was just easier. Also, I have heard a lot of good thing about them so we just pulled the trigger. The one we got comes with the annex and extends out over the ladder. Initially we thought we wanted a 3 person but after getting in one, we went with a 2+ person. It has plenty of room for my wife and I. I’m 6’4” and fit with room to spare.

I have a DC with a leitner rack basically same set up with tepui tent. 275 Toyo open country tires. Hwy driving with that I ususlly saw around 12 mpg using fuelly. We usually fueled up every 200 but I had 6 in roto pax. Don’t know if that helps

I would wait on mods to after trip or atleast do it 2 months before to make sure you work any kinks out. But tat is just me.

I'm really digging this Leitner rack. Lots of flexibility and just rock solid build. In just the few weeks I've had it, I've been stopped countless times by people asking who makes it, where to get it, etc. One of the coolest things is that the mount plates work perfectly with Rotopax attachments, so you can direct mount all the various containers on the inside and outside of the plate. I've got 4 3-gallon tanks on one side of the truck and two gear pods on the other. When deployed, the annex with the 23zero tent has an opening to the gear pods directly underneath the ladder, so I can easily access the storage space without "going outside". The 23zero Byron tent is huge (California king 3" foam mattress). With all the increased weight in the back of the truck (rack, gear pods + gear, tent, fuel + containers), it was starting to sag a bit, so I beefed up the rear leaf springs. No noticeable change in the ride but the back end is pretty much back to stock height. I think this is basically good to go for the trip this summer. I went to Alaska Tent & Tarp to look at getting a custom "soft cap" built around the rack... quoted price was a bit too high and the wait time was just far too long. Maybe a cool future project, though.

Thought that looked my neck of the woods. I am in Franklin County and travel to Northern Somerset and of course the "County" often in the summer. Hope to see you on the trails this summer.

Do you have any side pics of this setup? I was thinking something similar but couldn't decide between a bed cap or just a rack.

We had our first outing in our new camper last week. We just took it to a local campground for an initial shakedown run so we can learn a few things. Tundra pulled it like a champ and we had a great time. Looking forward to a fun-filled summer camping.
