    Hello!

If I have stock 255/70/18 on the base steelies on the right and I swap out to stock 275/60/18 on the stock wheels to the left, will the base steel TMPS work on those?

From what I’ve read on this site, no. Steel and alloy rims use different tpms’s.

No the Steele’s use a diff angle on the stem. You need tpm’s for factory aluminum wheels. I went through this. Coolsprings Toyota $59 I paid for each.
    What year do you have?

Dang...over $200 additional I have to add to the price of the rims and tires I would get?!? That is ridiculous. I'll just save my money and keep the steelies. Thanks everyone.

Unless you can find wheels off of a 2018 or newer with tpm’s.

I have the wheels on the left and want to replace the lugs with black lugs. I've been looking around but not sure what the right fit is. Anyone have any suggestions?

I can tell you from personal experience that they do NOT work. I got the TRD wheels for $300 as dealer takeoffs and spent another $300 on TPMS.

The truck/steelies/TRD were all 2018 models

It works. I have a 2018 that had steel wheels. Bought used TRD Off Road wheels
and had them powdercoated black like the TRD Pro's. Discount tire took my old tpms off the steelies, flipped them the opposite direction and installed on the aluminum ones, and everything works fine. Only thing they will tell you is if you ever have a complete flat, it may break the sensor because the angle of the sensor is close to the bead. This is because the steel and aluminum sensors are at 20 and 40 degree angle, can't remember which is which.

If you don't mind telling, how much did Discount Tire charge you to swap everything? Also, did you have to have the TMPS reprogrammed by Toyota?

Thanks....but those don't appear to have the "washer" portion of the lug nut that holds the center cap on...

I bought some TRD offroad wheels/tires with no TPMS and had Discount remove the TPMS from my TRD Sport wheels and tires and install in the TRD offroads, as well as balance them. Total cost was something like $240

I have a 2014. I believe 2018s use a different sensor. I got mine from ebay and it is working so far. Discount tire programmed them for me when I had tires put on by them along with my new wheels. I didn't have to pay any additional cost apart from mounting and balancing.

I replaced my stock 255/70/18s with 275/65/18 KO2s at the same time as I had the new wheels put on, so it didn't cost me any more for the tpms sensor swap. After about 100 miles my tpms light came on, probably because the shop never paid attention to which wheel went on which position. Anyway, I just never did the reset procedure in the manual, but I was taking it in for 10k service the next week. When I picked it up, the service manager says "we reset that tpms light for you", so I never even had to do the reset procedure. All that being said, in about 50k miles when the BFGs wear out, I'll probably put the proper sensors in the wheels while they're apart, but then again...maybe not...

Would my TMPS in my 18' steelies work for these 18' stock wheels?

It is my experience that they will not work, as others have said the angle of the steel wheels is different. I tried it wheen I switched back on my 07, I dont think sensors have changed.

The Alloys in the picture are still considered TRD wheels
Im just giving you my experience... there are alot smarter guys on here than myself that might chime in

Someone said they would work (they said they had did it) by flipping the TMPS the opposite direction. I called the Toyota dealership that is selling those rims and told them I had a 2019 with the base steelies and they said everything will work fine. So, I guess we will see. Anyway, thanks for all of the help.
