So after reading and researching this for way too long, I'm down to these 2 setups...

    1. Icon Rebound Titanium, 17x8.5", +25 offset. Weight = 27lbs + Cooper AT3 XLT 295/70R17. 33.35" tall, 11.9" wide, 58lbs > Total weight w/wheels (x4) = 340lbs

    or

    2. Fuel D552 Anthracite, 18x9", +20 offset. Weight = 29lbs + Cooper AT3 XLT 275/70R18. 33.23" tall, 11.1" wide, 57lbs > Total weight w/wheels (x4) = 344lbs

Both setups end up being almost the same height and weight. The 295/17's are almost an inch wider which I think looks much better (the 275/18's seem a little on the skinny to me?) but the different wheel offsets may make that difference in width less noticeable?

The 17" setup is slightly lighter but being an inch wider, I'm guessing it will be less fuel efficient then the 18" setup? Not a huge deal as my truck is not my daily driver. The 17" wheel setup will have more sidewall so should be a better ride (in theory anyway). The 17" wheels don't provide much clearance for the brake calipers on the Gen3's but they will fit.

Suspension wise, I will be going with the 6112/5160s (at 1.9"). I know that it will clear the 275/70R18 setup. Its should clear the 295/70R17 setup too (without loosing the main front mudflap which is important to me) but I haven't been able to verify that? Worst case I can add a shim up front to get me up to the 2.5" range but I'd really rather not.

I know I'm probably spiting hairs here but that's how I am so which setup would you choose and why? Thanks

Id choose option 1. Between the two wheel choices: i like the rebounds more, and its a 17".

So I've read all about the advantages of going with a 17" wheel but most of them don't really apply in this case. I do like the rebounds and their +25 offset but the main reason I'm considering going with the 17's is I like that size (33x12") and hoping it will ride a little better? I do not need or want an "E" rated tire but that's all that's available in the sizes I'm interested in (regardless if I go 17" or 18").

What's your reason for recommending the 17's?

Anybody else want to chime in?

    Thanks

More sidewall is the main factor. Tires are a little cheaper too I believe in the larger sizes

    Makes sense
I agree and there is really only 2 things holding me back on that setup. I'm not thrilled with the tight caliper clearance but mostly I'm not 100% sure they will fit with only a 1.9" lift? I really don't want to go above the 1.9" and I do not want to loose the main front mud flap. I've only been able to find 2 trucks here with pretty much the same setup...

Looks good but he went with a 2.5" lift and still had a little bit of rub (but just on the front aero flap which I fine with loosing)

    #2 @Tundrago > https://www.tundras.com/threads/icon-17-six-speed-wheels-picture-thread.13248/page-10#post-865382
I can tell he doesn't have much if any lift but he didn't post much detail. I love the look so I PM'ed him for more info but he hasn't responded.

Why is the little mud flap such a concern? you can relocate it or bend it if you really want to keep it. The brake calipers aren’t going to expand so that’s not an issue.

I don't care about the little aero flap in the front (circled in red below). Not sure what purpose its supposed to serve but it can go. I'm also fine with moving the inner liner forward. What I do care about is the actual mudflap (circled in yellow below). It does serve an actual purpose, especially for those of us in the snow/rust belt.

17 inch Icon Six Speed, BFG 285/75, ReadyLift 3/2 spacer lift, Bilstein 5100s in rear, Remote lock tailgate, leather wrapped steering wheel, driver side grab handle, LED headlights, LED interior lights, plastidipped dash components and grill, factory remote start, AJT climate knobs,
@airgunner Alright so mines a 3/2 level, 17 inch Icon Six Speeds +25 offset. I did 285/75 BFG A/T. From my research it was the best and cheapest route for tires. My tires were $220 per compared to $255 per for those Coopers in 295/70. My tires sit at 33.8 high, 11.2 wide. +25 offset is great as it doesn't stick out much, 0.98 inch to be exact. I did remove the mudflap that you want to keep however I'm not sure it was necessary, I can throw em back on there tomorrow and let you know if it rubs. I killed myself researching what setup to go with so I understand your pain. As far as ride quality, my set up is amazing. I'm sure your either of your setups with be similar but my advice is to add as much sidewall as you can cause it's amazing.

Also check out this site for research and planning Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I see a lot of guys do the 285/75's (and they are cheaper then the 295/70s) but I seriously doubt those will fit with only a 2" lift? I will say the amount your 11.2" tires stick out is about perfect so that does have me somewhat seconding guessing the 11.9" width of the 295/70's?

Yes, I've been using the tiresize site a lot!

Honestly, price hasn't really factored into my thought process so far so I started doing the math to see what that looked like and come to find out that both options come in at around the same initial price too...

    Option #1 > ~$255 a tire and ~$230 a wheel = $1940

    Option #2 > ~$220 a tire and ~$260 a wheel = $1920
(so much for 17" tires being cheaper LOL)

A couple of advantages for options #2... The 275/70/18's are one of the few sizes Cooper makes the XLT's in that is Snow Peak rated. Also, I know if I go with that size, I can get away with setting the 6112's at the 1.3" setting meaning I could keep some forward rake which I like. At the 1.9 setting, I'm going be very tempted to get some 1" or 1.5" shackles to get the rake back?

Between that and the likely fuel savings, option #2 will be cheaper in the long run.

I'm going with Tundrado's set up. He's on 5100's at middle setting with 285/75/17's with no rub (I think he removed the flaps) but no Body Mount Chop. I'll be on Icon Rebounds as well because the +25 offset is pretty much the key to these fitting with this setup.

When you look at it like this, not much of a difference...

Not sure that it helps though because you can look at it a couple of ways lol.

You can say that option 1 isn't that much bigger then option 2 so might as well go for the 17" wheel with more side wall for a better ride?

Of you can say that the 1/2" more sidewall probably isn't going to be that noticeable (seat of the pants wise) and visually they aren't going to look much different either so go with option #2 for the gas savings?

Realistically, either is probably fine and no matter which way I go, I will second guess it and wish I had gone the other way! lol

Well I ordered the 6112's at 1.9" and 5160's w/toytec shackes for the rear so the lift is set. I also ordered Icon Rebounds so I will definitely be going with a 17" tire. It will be a couple more weeks before I install the lift and order the tires and have them installed.

Still debating between the 285/75's or 295/70's? I like the look of the 295's better but I think the 285's may be the smarter call? It will probably come down to the last minute when I actually order the tires. Brains vs heart? lol

I went with the Bilstein 6112 at 1.9” and was able to fit 315/70/17 duratracs Had to trim skid plate and push forward the front plastic liner. I removed the rear mudflaps but am going to try and put them back on tomorrow. I went with the method 313 which has same specs as the icon rebound.

My 6112/5160’s come Friday. I think I’m going with 18” wheels and 285/70r18. Same as the 285/75r17. I think they may rub some but the width of the 295 i think would be worse. Idk

I agree. Really surprised they fit with only a 2" lift. Love to see pics after you put the rear mudflap back on.

Yeah it's so hard to tell what will or won't fit. Each truck is different. What fits perfect on one truck can rub like crazy on another? Post some pics when its done!

I put 285/75 on my Rebounds. LOVE the look. I have 5100 middle setting up front with 2 shims on driver and one passenger side. CB+2 shackles in the rear.

I had rubbing on the little front flaps, the "rear" front flaps, and I had to re-drill the liner and push it forward. I know some guys didn't have to do all that, but I wasn't as lucky.

You were not lucky at all! I hope my luck is better because I'm only doing the 6112's at 1.9 with no shims. I know I''l have to pull the front front flap and I'm fine with that. I'm fine with pushing the liner forward too but I will be PO'ed if I have to remove the rear front flap.

I'm really leaning towards the 295/70 not sure if that size is more or less likely to having rubbing? There is a guy here who did the 295/70s on Rebounds with no lift and made it work so fingers crossed?

I hope whichever way you go it works for you. @equin had great luck with his 285/75, so did @Tundrado.

I don't mind missing the flaps. Once I did it, I really liked the look.

You really did struggle/debate which setup to ho with on here. I have 18s and a set of 17s (that im switching too when funds become available for 37s). What was said in post# 4 was that tires are cheaper in 17s when you go up in size, not when you're fairly close to stock size. Compare 18/17s at 35s and 37s and you'll see. Hope it all worked out for you in the end.

    @Gearhead22

So in the end I went with 6112's in the front set to 1.9" and 5160's in the back. Icon Rebounds (17x8.5"/25mm offset) and Cooper Discovery AT3 XLT's in 295/70-17.

Overall it looks good and I’m pretty happy with it. The pics aren’t great and don’t do it justice. Coopers for some reason do not photograph well and they look smaller in the pics then they do in person.

I do need to get the bumpers color matched and do some debadging to complete the look I want. I also have some 2019 Pro LED headlights I need to install.

As for the suspension, ride wise it's a little better but honestly not that much different than the stock 4600's IMO. I wish I would have gone with the 1.3” setting as that would have been more then enough for this wheel/tire combo and would have kept some forward rake which I prefer.

I have some Toytec shackles that I can install to get the rake back but at that point, I'm thinking 305/70’s would probably look better? I like the current tire size and don’t really want to go higher or bigger so I may just get the 6112’s set back down to the 1.3” level?

@airgunner your truck looks sweet! I have the 6112s at 1.3 but am always wondering if I shoulda went or should go to 1.9. Ill probably leave at 1.3 - I have to put a shim on driver's side - doing that next Thursday. Currently in a deep pondering state on which size tries to go with at 1.3; thinking 305/65r17 or maybe 295/70r17 or maybe 285/70r17... Wheels will be 0 offset.
