Started a build thread over on Tundra Talk, but figured I'd post here as well.

I bought the truck new in 2015 in Bozeman, Montana. Had a lot of plans for it, but life has happened and the progress has been slow. But, I'm slowly getting there and will use this to track my progress. I really enjoy looking at other's build log, so maybe this can help some people out.

This build log will be pretty slow, but should have some good mods as we go along. I have a lot of plans for the truck, some may be soon, some a year down the road. I will continually update this and try to provide feedback/reviews/details about mods and parts to help others with questions, decisions, or just some nice photos!

This truck will be my daily driver, family vehicle, weekend project hauler, camping rig, off road beast, hunting camp, and anything else I throw at it. The goal is to have a fun, reliable all-around truck.

*A side note on the photos: I am a bit of a photography hobbyist, so expect a ton of pictures. I may not do any mods, but just go out and detail the truck one day and take 20 pictures. I am also VERY busy between work and family, so I may post a mod and pictures a few days or weeks after I did it, yet talk about it like it was today (if you're peeking at the exif data). You have been warned!

    The stock truck:

De-chrome round 1 back in 2015. Tried some black Plasti-Dip for the 5.7 and Tundra badge, and attempted white for the Limited badge.

The black looks great, went on easy, and looks painted. The white I'm not a huge fan of. The consistency was very different than the black, and it kept running and bubbling. Maybe I got a bad can? Might try it one more time then give up and go back to black.

My rear bumper caps are already white, so that's good to go. I thought about dipping the front bumper caps, mirrors, and door handles. The bumpers and mirrors will get a lot of abuse form the bugs, and the door handles from opening. I'm just going to order color-match pieces instead.

Lock'er Down Safe - super easy install, very secure, and looks great!

During install - I used an extended socket and 1/2" ratched to easily remove the existing bolts. Only the two down in the "wells" are required.

I used washers (not supplied) for a little extra strength. Not needed, but I like the way it turned out.

ESP Truck Accessories - Rear storage system

This system is a MUST for CrewMax owners. Everyone knows how terrible the storage is.

UPS damaged the first shipment, to the point where the box did not fit correctly. Earl from ESP was awesome and sent another right away at his cost.

I sent him pictures of the damage and mis-fitment at 9:30pm the day I received it, and Earl called back 5 minutes later to discuss and make it right. Great company, great product.

    During install
    IMG_3190_932d9d29550238abcc44dad59c624e7b030ba324.jpg

That's all I have of the install. It was late at night, and by the time I figured out the metal was damaged I was freaking out a bit thinking it was my fault. So no more pictures that night.

    Finished product:

    Husky X-act Contour Floor Mats:
The X-acts are awesome! I have had three different sets of the Weathertech mats in different vehicles and like them quite a bit. I can confirm that the X-act Contours are everything people say they are - a better fit, more pliable (flexible) and more sticky both to the interior and your feet. The full-sized rear mat works great with the ESP system, as I believe the Weathertech would overlap too much and I would have had to cut it. Hope the pictures are useful, and shout if you have any questions!

After much back and forth - I mean month and months - countless conversations with the wife, etc we finally decided on a cover. We were between the Truck Covers USA American Roll and the Diamondback. It ultimately came down to versatility and the ability to haul bikes/skis on top while still having full access to the bed underneath.

We ended up going with the Truck Covers USA with the full Yakima system. So far it has been great! My only complaint is the mounting hardware - currently the clamps are slightly pulling the side rails in, causing the cover to hang up a bit. I don't know what can be done with the provided hardware - I think I may have to fab up my own solution.

Just a couple of crappy cell phone pics for now. I'll try and get some better ones at some point.

Ignore the ghetto-ness of the additional strap. I was paranoid the first time I used that thing.

Was hoping that the stock Michelin tires would hold me over until I was ready for my new suspension...

Back in 2015 with less than 5k on the truck and two flats later, I got new tires. The stock tires, granted only 5-ply, got TWO flats on very simple gravel roads. Not super happy about that.

Really wanted to wait for my lift and 35s but it is what it is.

BF Goodrich KO2 in 275-70-R18. Absolutely love those things so far. Way more solid feeling than stock, and minimal road noise. So far 62k on the truck and still have some tread left.

I've decided against a lift and wheels/tires (for now) as I just won't be doing enough to justify it.

Here's what I've done in the last couple of days:

SPOD sunglasses holder installed. Awesome system and can't wait to get some lights hooked up!

Rago Fabrication low-pro ditch brackets. The Rigid pods I ordered with them were on back order, so those are coming in a couple of weeks.

Also installed a new battery today. Went with an Odessy. Coming up: more de-chrome! I sent a PM to ToyotaOfCoolSprings on another forum and hope they can still hook me up with some white and black accessories. Anyone know if Roman is on this forum?

Just placed an order for TRD Pro grill with hood bulge, white mirror caps, and black door handles! That will officially be all the de-chroming except for the front bumper caps. Not sure what to do with those... may take them off and get painted locally instead of buying new ones.

Got the NFab EPYX steps installed today. Original plan was rock sliders, but got a great deal on these and I don't do any hardcore wheeling. Also the steps are nice for me and the kids and wife!

Any thoughts on the Rigid vs Baja Designs kits for fog light replacements? I've done some reading on both and can't make up my mind.

Got the rest of my parts from @Roman installed. TRD Prod Grill and Hood Bulge. Looks great! Only complaint is the rest of the front of my truck is pretty beat up from bugs/rocks/dirt so the new grill needs some break-in!

Just a few little upgrades this weekend. Caught the Toyota parts sale the other day and scored the TRD Skid Plate and TRD Shift Knob. Also picked up some TRD Pro wheels for the wife's 4Runner.
