Shim is a 1/4" in thickness but will raise it 1/2" , +3 shackles will provide 1.75 inches of lift.

King 2.5's, Toytec shackles, FN BFD 18", 295/70r18 NItto Ridge Grapplers, Dirty Deeds 8" SS, no more chrome, 17' pro grill, Husky mats, TRD Pro shifter + 15hp...
Stick with your original plan and dont drop back to the smaller tire. Your rub will be minimal and easily mitigated. I'm running 295/70r18s on about 2.5" of lift with FN BFD's +12 offset. Have the coachbuilder bumper shims just because I didn't want to cut any plastic in the front liner, lost the mudflaps (or could put them back and cut around the body mount). I do have spc uca's that help so have about +3 caster, more forward than stock. 285's you should be good if you can find a good alignment shop and minimal trimming...I'll take the smaller one...said no man ever...

Those tires are GoodYear Duratrac. In R18, they come in 285/65, 285/75, and 295/65. No 295/70 available in that tire.

Sorry I can’t 100% answer your question, but hopefully it’s a piece of the puzzle.

Thanks RangerBP. I called the dealership there in Colorado Springs (Liberty Toyota) and spoke with a gentlemen who let me know that they were 285/75/17s. I was like those are 17s and he said yes. Now that we confirmed the tire and you correctly pointed out that they do not come in either the 295/70/18s or 285/75/17s, I believe he quoted me the specs for another TRD Pro build that he sent me that they have in stock. So for that gray truck in question I'm guessing 285/70/18 until I can confirm otherwise. Gonna call one more time tomorrow to try and confirm. Super nice folks over there. The plot thickens :)

Side note. Apparently they build and sell a lot of these TRD Pro like Tundras of the SR5 package (link below).

Great feedback and great looking truck conlons26. Much appreciated. The shop will be testing the fit on Thursday so we will see what happens :)

I just had some Ridge Grapplers in 285/70/18 delivered this afternoon. Hope to get them and my 6112's at 1.9" installed later this week. They will be going on the stock TRD OR wheels with no spacers. I'll try to remember and post after install and give some data on whether I needed to remove mud flaps, trim, etc.
I'm only expecting to have to remove the little front flap.

I read and researched the same threads on that same size tire and wondered the same. I eventually settled on 285/75/17s, which are about 0.1” bigger in diameter than 285/70/18s according to tiresize.com.

I took off the front bumper plastic liner before I installed everything (6112s at 1.9”; Icon Rebounds +25 offset and Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs). I drove around for a few days before getting an alignment to make sure everything settled. I got absolutely no rub before and after the alignment. Everything easily clears the body mount, too. I’m wondering if it was even necessary to remove the bumper liner. I’ve intended to cut and redrill the liner before reinstalling, but I haven’t gotten around to that yet. I debating just putting it back on as is and see if I even need to do that.

As for fitting a fullsize spare, rather than buying another 17” Icon Rebound, I was cheap and kept the 18” steel spare rim. But I wrapped it with the cheapest 285/70/18 tire I could find online. Mine barely fit with the metal guides still in place.

Anyway, just thought I’d chime in with my experience. Post pics of your setup when you get it all done!

Happy to help another Tundra brother spend his money to mod his truck!

@aperezsh When you say "took off my flaps" are you talking about small front flaps? or both front and the rear flaps?

I had mine installed at the end of last week. I took off the little front flap but left the mud flap for now. I'm not rubbing there, nor the front liner, nor the body mount but I do rub the skid plate at full lock going forward. I guess I'll have to bend or cut it.

I have pretty much same set up as Kurdt. 6112/5100 1.9 with 1 shim on driver side. It just rubs on skid plate on full lock. I have both front and rear flaps. Didn’t take anything out.

What size fuel tank? Curious if you’d rub with 38 gallons.

what was the power loss and MPG with that tire size? was looking at 275 but that 285 looks sweet in your pic

Currently making the same decision- resurrecting this thread :)
The 285 seems like the best of both worlds.

I dropped the hammer on the 285. Minimal gas hit and power I can’t feel any difference. If I mat my truck it will still spin tire and gain speed no problem. I think the hits really start coming at the 35x 12.50 and better
