Went to Lowe's and got 15 pieces of lumber and 40 pavers (12" x 12"). Came out, went to start my truck and......nothing. My truck was dead, no juice. I drove there with no issues 15 mins prior and nothing was draining the battery. Any idea what the deal is? Are there sensors in the bed that shut the truck down if the payload is too heavy?

Really, what's the chance of that happening?

It was really wild, I never seen anything like it?!

These 2017 batt fails must be hot climate related. I'm on a 9/2015 batt in a 2016 in Central Valley of California and it's ok atm, but test annually and figured an AGM replacement was prudent this summer. Would love to know where these failures were... Way too early.

I'm going to Toyota tomorrow and now I know I'm not the only guy with this issue.

I'm sure they will tell me I did something to cause the drain but that's impossible.

At first they wouldn't replace my battery until I showed up at the service desk with it and sat it on the Manager's desk.....that quickly changed their mind.

Interested as well. Min is 4 years old. Thinking I should quit while I’m ahead. I’d like a AGM 27f. But the price sure is going to hurt.
Costco has interstate batteries now. But they are not AGM.

There is a Northstar group buy every six months. They just had on about 2 months ago, so August--ish I would say there will be another. I'm getting in on that for sure. I have a 17 too and never liked the factory battery. I also used Optima Batteries in the past, and have had good luck with both the Red and Yellow.

From the short time I’ve read up on that it says if you have tow package 27f. Looks like the 24f is fine but has less reserve and higher CCA. Batteries plus has the X2 27f AGM (basically a Northstar) for 360 but the warranty is 5 years. I wonder if buying a premium battery like that is worth the money?

Thanks! I’ll keep my eyes open for that. My 17 battery is ok but I may upgrade if the timing is right. I wonder how you get the core charge back on that or what do you do with your current battery?

I keep a bench battery on a Tender at all times. I mostly use it to assist start machines in the cold, but it's amazing how many times the thing gets used for other things. Plus have a spare battery at the drop of a dime can be helpful in a pinch. Don't know about the core charge.
