Although paint is probably better in terms of ultimate quality, there is nothing wrong with plastidip. I like that it can be removed if you want to, for whatever reason.
I used to drive this Ford Explorer. It is a company vehicle, so I was not allowed to paint it, but I hated the big chrome grille, especially the big piece below the grill in the bumper. So I dipped it, with the idea that I will just remove it if needed. I actually used the Duplicolor brand, but it is very similar to Plastidip. I think it goes on a little smoother, if you take care to prevent runs, because it goes on as a thinner mist and will run easier than Plastidip. Anyways, I think it is important to add the clear coat which gives it UV protection and keeps the black from fading in the sun. It has been more than 4 years now, and I am not even working for the company anymore, but I still see the truck (I still work nearby), and the grill looks as good as the day I painted it. I used to take it through car washes, the ones with bristles, and it held up to that also.

The best trick I've found is to take care of it with a toothpick 15 minutes after the last coat. That way most of it has dried and the little parts inside the letters still come out easily. If you wait too long it drys too much and you risk peeling off part of the letters.

Bensky - I bought black "overlay" badges for my 2019. No Plasti Dip, no paint, no removing and attaching new badges. They weren't cheap but look great on my truck. They attach with double sided tape provided on the inside of each overlay. I also purchased them for my wife's 4Runner. I figure my next step is to "de-badge" anyway so in the interim this is the step I took. I couldn't find the overlays for my daughter's 2012 Tacoma so I used Plasti Dip on her badges. Looks good. There are plenty of YouTube videos to help you. If I can do it, anyone can !! The key is 5-6 thin coats and patience.

Decided to plasti dip the emblems. This is very easy to do! Did 7 coats per side and let dry about 15 minutes between coats. After the final coat, I let it dry for 30 minutes before peeling.

Assuming the poster meant the overlay kits.

OE is the way to go with the overlay kits. Ebay knockoffs will start to come off at the first major temperature change no matter how you prep.
