Can anyone tell me why an SR5 4x4 Crewmax can tow 9800# but the Limited, Platinum and 1794 can only tow 8800#? I’m looking for some help in selecting which trim I should get for towing. I need 4x4 and a Crewmax. I’d like some of the creature comforts in the upscale trim but don’t know if I’d want to give up 1000# in towing capacity.

It really depends on what your goals are. My example is I needed a truck for long trips and for it to be comfortable because I broke my tailbone 20+ yrs ago and it never heals. I also wanted to color match parts of the truck. So the best option for me was the Platinum. If towing is your main concern...I would get the truck with a better tow rating. Don't quote me... but I think that the higher trim levels have more weight added ... therefore decreasing the stopping power... which is why the SR5 have a better tow rating.
