Window Tinting Cost?

I paid $75 + tax to do 20% on the 2 front door windows and a visor strip on top of the front window 2 days ago.

 

Knox36, that's a pretty good deal... usually about what I now charge. (Little side thing). Maybe when I head down to Knox in June I'll check out some shops...maybe look to open one up when I move down there....

 

Maybe dealer installed tint is what he is talking about. Could be port installed too.

 

I was recently quoted at $200 for 35% on fronts (legal limit here) and 20% on backs. That was for Llumar. I know the backs already have the tinted glass, but it does very little to block UV. I'm just not sure yet if I want to go that dark on the back when the fronts are only at 35%, or less so that the front/back are a little closer match.

 

This is a little shop in Morristown, TN called Extreme Car Audio. They are an audio shop but they do tint on the side. They specialize in boat and motorcycle audio and also car audio obviously.

The shops in the heart of West Knoxville were outrageous. At least double or way more for ceramic.

Question, does the 2019 Tundra come with any factory tint on the any of the windows?
Local dealer here pre-installs tint on all the Tundras and tacks on a $495 charge!!! They state it has a Lifetime guarantee by the manufacturer but the sales people have not been able to tell me who that is or really anything about the tint. I've had poor experiences with aftermarket tint over the years, even the "lifetime warranty" stuff and have found out the hard way it costs approximately 2-3x as much to remove than it does to get it installed in the first place.

 

$495?!?!?!? You could check at any reputable shop and get same job done for half the price. AND get the same warranty. Most don't know that the dealer sublets the tint job out to an outside vendor. Do some homework before letting the dealer sucker you in...

 

15% front 10% back all ceramic on my sequoia....7 windows for $300 here in Vegas. You should get a deal no problem

 

I just had two front, two rear, and back window tint with ceramic for $260 cash in Utah. I went with 30% in front and 50% in back (on top of factory) to keep me legal. Utah is currently on a ticketing rampage for illegal tint! It’s still pretty dark and looks great!

 

Plez tint your own windows.

Tundra's have rather flat windows - basically the rear is a flat set of panes on a slider.

The fronts and sides have little curve.

Save yourself big coin and TINT YOUR OWN FRIGGIN WINDOWS.

You can buy top quality tint on eBay already pre-cut for your Tundra.

If you can get to the Internet, go to YouTube, several good videos on how.

Helps if you have garage or carpool.

Minimal tools needed - yardstick/tape measure, great set of razors for clear cuts, several hours, Dawn dish detergent, spray bottle, few old credit cards or supplied squeegee, steady hand and a LOT OF PATIENCE to get it right.

DIY plez.

What percent did you go with?

 

I paid 525 for 3M ceramic on all five windows and the sunroof. Everything is expensive in Northern Va…. Ceramic makes a huge difference on the heat, kept us cooler in the summer so no complaints here. Also has lifetime warranty.

 

Good god I’m getting quotes of at least $500 everywhere in Austin. But that does include the windshield I think. And no one I’ve talked to will go below 35 percent on the fronts. Anybody in the area have any suggestions on a shop to call?

 

Not sure if stock tint is different on different vehicles, but I had a 2014 Tacoma before my Tundra and I had a mountain bike in the bed with the brake handle rubbing the back window. The tint was on the outside. It scraped it clear. It almost seemed to be like a tinted finish added on more than anything. But yes, cannot be removed (other than scrapping it really bad lol)

 

I paid $490 after tax for 5% formula one pinnacle ceramic tint atwa including a brow. Part of the price is for the top-of-the-line Llumar tint, the rest is the quality of the shop. I see tinting windows like getting tattoos... cheap is not better.

I totally agree…. Buy cheap, buy twice.

 

$120 for the front windows in central NJ. 20% I think. My previous two cars nearly 10yrs ago had better quality tint, and it was installed better, even tho it was from the same shop, and the same guys. Just something to noodle on.

Make sure you inspect all windows carefully before leaving even if it’s a great shop.

 

Just had the front two windows done on my wife’s sequoia at 20 percent with Premium Carbon Tint. We didn’t get ceramic,the tint guy said it wasn’t worth the extra cost with our vehicle to make everything else match with the factory tinted glass on the rest of the car.

$60 total and he was done in 30min

Remove tint on front 2 windows.
5% ceramic on front windows.
20% ceramic over factory tinted rear glass.

Damn after seeing what you all are paying I dont even wanna say how much I paid. I paid for windshield, all 5 windows, and got the best tint (nano ceramic blah blah) available at a very reputable shop nearby. Compared to what other shops quoted me I felt I got a good deal and am happy with it. Also, my wife is happier although she would probably punch me if she saw the receipt.

 

Just had mine done last week. I had clear nano-ceramic put on the already factory tinted rear window and rear door windows, and also clear nano on the windshield. I had them add 35% nano-ceramic tint (all that is legal here in Kansas) on the two front door windows. Total was $400 for all 6 windows.

 

I'm not quite sure what you are saying here, but if I understand it correctly, but you can't lighten the back windows. They are smoked (inside the) glass; there is no tint film from the factory to remove. You would have to replace all the glass. You can do what I did and just put clear ceramic on them to get the UV protection though. I also put it on my windshield.

 

Same. I went with Xpel XR+ all around including windshield and sunroof. It was NOT cheap. If I could do it again, I would've just done the XR instead of the XR+ and saved a couple hundred. Even with XR, it still would've been like twice what most people here are saying they paid.
