Platinum DRL question

So im putting Platinum headlights on my SR5 and ive got a harness that goes from the battery directly to the led strip with a 3 pin connector. Ive heard that their is a way to add a third wire to turn the led strip off when the turn signal is activated. Anyone got any clue on how to do this?

I say... if you do anything. Flash the DRL too. Don't turn it off.

How hard would it be to do that iHacker? Just curious...

 

The hard part is baking and open the headlight housings the rest is easy, but this is available only for old Platinum/1794 headlights with single LED strip NOT AVAILABLE YET FOR 2018+ LED headlights

 

There's a way to shut off the LED strip by wiring up a SPDT relay between your battery and the strip but you have to remove your flasher relay and find the wire that puts out a constant 12v when the turn signal are activated.

Remove the one screw holding the relay harness bracket and probe the contacts with a multi meter. Or find the wiring diagram or ask someone. This wire will supply 12v only when the blinkers come on and shuts off when the blinker is not on. Taking it before the flasher should provide a constant 12v. Taking it after the flasher will not work because the flasher is supplying on, off, on, off, hence the flashing.

Once you find that wire, hook up the 5pin relay to the battery side of the harness. Disconnect the led strip positive wire from the battery and connect it to pin 87a of relay.

For the remaining pins:
87: leave disconnected
30: goes to positive terminal of battery.
85: to battery gnd along with gnd wire from harness.
86: connect this pin to the wire you found inside the truck.

Your lights will work as they do now. Once turn signal comes on, the wire will provide 12v to relay and activate the internal switch and shut off your strip.

Disclaimer: If you don't have electrical experience and not sure how to probe wires, have a stereo shop do it for you. I'm just providing the information and you do it at your own risk .Ahhh, that feels better.

 

Question in regards to switchback LED lights I replaced the amber DRLs with. They have resistor installed as well.
I turn on the truck the light up as white, as soon as I place the truck in any gear they turn amber and stay that way even after placing truck back in park. If I turn the headlights on the switchbacks turn white and only turn amber when turn signal is engaged, then they return to white after turn signal is disengaged. If I turn off headlights they go back to amber and stay until I restart truck...

Did I wire something wrong or is this how they were meant to function. These are the ones I used:
