What lift is good enough?

    I live in north dakota.. is the rust issue I hear about with OME something I should keep in mind or do guys just not worry about it and drive em til they're shot? I am not one to be washing shocks or spraying shit on them to keep rust off. I want to put em on and forget about em until it's time to replace them.

    What's scary about that listing is that SPC is very into price control of their uca's. ToyTec, a Colorado company like SPC, is allowed a modest forum discount which made the SPC's a great deal at Toytec. Wheeler's might have had a similar discount too. $485 is crazy low and wonder if that listing is legit since SPC raised the pricing almost $70 more than a year ago to $639.

    No rust on mine after 3 years. Depends on climate and whether they salt the roads I guess.

    I have never had the issue and I live in CO. Though I do rust prevention every summer. Keep clean and spot prevention when need. It's part of owning a truck.

    blistering cold with lots of snow and lots of salt and sand on the road during the winter. No such thing as pavement from late Dec through early March most years....just packed snow and ice for roads.

    Ebay has turned into a knockoff free for all. With that said, I purchased my spc uppers from a seller on eBay and they are legit branded original. As far as brand name items go, just look at the sellers rating, if their feedback is 99+ percent positive you’re good to go.

    As others have said, the 275/70r18's will fit in most cases with no rub. Especially if you are running the factory wheels. If you want to upgrade the suspension and have a little more clearance (without breaking the bank) the 6112's are definitely the way to go.

    If you go with the 6112's, I would recommend against the top setting. I know a lot of people run them that way but that adds too much pre-load IMO and will effect ride quality. The middle 1.9" setting is very popular as it will level out the truck and basically make it sit like the TRD Pro models do from the factory.

    If you want to retain some forward rake (as I do), you have two options. Set the 6112's at the 1.9 setting and then get a set of 1" or 1.5" shackles for the rear. Not the cheapest option but much better then "blocks". The other option if you are not worried about maximum lift is setting the 6112's to the 1.3" setting. This is probably your best option as it will give the best ride, retain some forward rake without having to do or buy anything for the back and it looks good too.

    PS - I see that you have a 2018 so you have the TSS system and that means you do want to retain some forward rake so that the TSS will continue to operate correctly.

    Best thing to do is go to OME 's site and check out all the engineering behind OME's shocks/coils like I did. They are basically outback coilovers/shocks. Engineered for travel on outback dirt roads and general Aussieland four wheeling. Kind of what I like to do here in CO. There no comparison with the 5100 really. The Eibach setup sold by ToyTec is another great option and not a much $ as the OME 's

    Great info! I’ll have to decide if I want 1 or 2 inches in the front. I will definitely keep them at middle setting or first setting though. No need to go higher for me. Thanks!

    Excellent info:thumbsup: Toytec is cool because they have the resources and ability to test all of these different configurations of lifts on different Toyota’s. You can go crazy thinking about different lift options and they do a good job of cutting out the guess work.
