18.52 mpg via hand calc. not too shabby. Now we'll see how things go back up the mountain.

The 18 and 19 mpg were Monticello UT to Montrose CO back to Monticello. Mostly around 55 mph.

Never saw anything like that at 70 though

I've achieved 18 before as well, going down from Portland Oregon to California Bay area (9 hrs). Maybe slight downhill helps! lol, coming back, I achieved between 16-17.

Yes, hand calculated on fill up showed 18 as well.

You need to be afraid of the gas pedal and pretend your truck doesn’t have brakes. LOL

What was your average mpg reading before your trip?
Wouldn’t it take longer than 3 hours of driving to average out 18 mpg?
Mine seems to take a really long time to move up or down.
    Curious.

I get 19 MPG at 70 MPH consistently.

This was with the truck loaded with 5 people and the bed loaded with luggage.

However, in town with starts and stops I get 15 avg.

On this trip through North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia in the mountains (ups and downs avg) at 65 MPH I got consistently over 20 MPG. I snapped this photo when it showed 21.0, but most of the way was between 20.5 and 20.8.

Also loaded, 4 people and luggage

All stock, no engine mods, just tunneau cover, running boards on the exterior

It was from Medford, OR down to Vacaville CA.

I've noticed if I drive under 70, I get better MPG. I was loaded too, 3 adults, 1 infant and my entire bed under the tunneau cover was full with luggage, ice chest, baby strollers, etc.. and the the front seat had 2 back packs and food.

Damn. Do you have one of those boat propeller hitch things giving you the added boost?
