What exactly is wrong with the child seat anchors ? Should I be moving my kids seat?

Of course Fords are the safest trucks... you can’t wreck what you can’t start.

Nothing wrong with the anchors just a bit awkward. At least for me.

Well, this poor safety rating pissed my wife off enough(since it’s for passenger side) to give me the green light for a different truck now, or a new Tundra when they update them and improve safety! Consumer Reports also scratched the Tundra from being recommended today.

Toyota might move a little quicker now on the next gen with this bad publicity. It was only a matter of time though so they had to know it was coming but you would think they would want to be ahead of the curve instead of behind it.

Will need to look up the full breakdown of the score. From that article:

"The Tundra’s elimination from the list leaves the Ford F-150 as the only full-size model above its threshold for a recommendation with a score of 67, followed by the Ram 1500 at 64 and the Tundra at 63."

So it is only 1 point behind the brand new Ram design and only 4 points off the F150. Seems like they are actually scoring overall pretty close to the same. You would think the newly redesigned trucks would be many points ahead, if you follow the logic of many posting here. The next tundra model revision will certainly rise to the top again. But I can't say I feel any less safe in my '19.

I saw that stuff. I was hoping to see the full Consumer Reports scores to see how they came up with the score of 63.

Haven't taken consumer reports reviews seriously for some time. @SYRTundra315’s post sums it up pretty accurately IMO.

    This. Exactly.
I did not buy a truck because I am going to be in an accident at a specific speed at a specific angle. The chances of my Tundra in an exact accident like that test is probably 0%. Anything smaller, and I won't sustain those same injuries. Anything bigger and I am screwed, no matter what vehicle I am in.

Note to self, move seat back, drive like a gangsta with my arm out the back window.

Physics also tells an opposing vehicle with less mass won’t be as crushing.

    No "B S.". .
Like any big company, Toyota built the Tundra to pass the crash tests it knew were coming. The New Test means Toyota cannot make lopsided trucks anymore and they must be safe for all passengers. The powers that be became aware manufacturers were beefing up only the one side, so they added the passenger side test, to protect the American people from penny pinching car companies.
This is a good thing, why should Toyota get a pass? Because you own one?

On Feb. 17, I was going 65 MPH when a teenager, texting, ran a stop sign and I T-boned him. Had no more than 2 seconds to try to stop/avoid him. My Tundra was a 2012, lifted, with a Ranch-hand wrap around bumper. The Tundra was totaled. Seatbelts and air bags saved our life - but did their own damage. My wife broke her sternum and still has some back pain. The only reason the windshield broke was that my hand hit it-my knuckle is still sore. I would not want to ever repeat that wreck. However, I attribute my survival to the heavy Tundra and the strong bumper. I bought another almost identical Tundra last week!

Texting teen was in moms Tahoe. All airbags deployed. I rolled him over at least 1 1/2 times. He crawled out and walked away. I would have figured he needed a hearse! Very lucky kid!

Gotta be careful what you wish for. I think Toyota is smart holding the line putting reliability first. And not adding all the high tech/car foo foo features which will cost the end user $$$$. I own a clear titled 14 Platinum CM and it has everything I could ever want in a truck...most of all the most important feature to me is reliability.

    Just an observation.

Thought this pic was interesting showing the crash bar up front. Appears the bar does not cover the area most heavily impacted by the small offset crash test. Makes me wonder if a full Ranch Hand style bumper would help protect occupants better in this instance due to amount of steel covering entire front area and connected to frame. Just not sure how a full head on collision would handle all that extra steel up front. Hmmm.

Doubt it. The rates on my 17 Tundra are only a few $$$ higher than our 12 MDX with excellent coverages and low deductibles.

What year tundra was tested? With the TSS wouldn't the truck have at least slowed down to reduced the accident damage? I know my truck has scared me a few times thinking I was about to have an offset crash and would start beeping.
